Every pet deserves to be remembered at their brightest, and every family deserves photographs that bring comfort for years to come.

If your best friend is entering their senior years or has recently received a diagnosis, don’t wait until walking becomes difficult. Let’s create something beautiful while they still have the strength to enjoy the experience.

In 2018, my life took an unexpected turn, leaving me feeling isolated and uncertain. The thought of bringing a dog into my hectic nursing schedule and apartment felt overwhelming. Yet, during my search, I stumbled upon a face that captivated my heart: Bacardi, who was then known as Wendy.

Wendy had wandered into a cantina alley in Puerto Rico, clutching her baby after the devastation of Hurricane Maria. She lay beneath a checker table, as if pleading for help. A stray after the storm, Wendy endured the loss of her home and family, not knowing where to seek refuge for months. After treatment for heartworm and a journey to regain her strength with an amazing foster, she made her way to the states, destined to find her forever home.

From the moment I met her, I sensed our connection. She was my soul dog, a survivor through and through. A gem of a dog who still would show off all her commands in both English and Spanish. Despite her past, she radiated love for every person and creature she encountered.

During the height of COVID, Bacardi faced yet another challenge of her life: acute kidney failure. After three harrowing nights in an emergency vet, where I couldn’t be by her side, the doctors told me she was shutting down. But just as she had never given up on me, I refused to give up on her. Through countless hours of meal prepping and a mix of medications and holistic vitamin regimen, she defied the odds and we healed, together.

We have embraced countless adventures: from the Jersey Shore to Philadelphia, swimming in streams, hiking, and enjoying overnights with her grandma and pop-pop. Each experience was a treasure, and I promised her we’d live out her golden years on the sunny West Coast. Together, we made that dream a reality moving to Los Angeles in September.

In February, after a joyful trip to Malibu where she delighted in the crashing of waves… one of her favorite activities, something changed when we returned home. A sudden rush to the vet revealed that she was bleeding from her spleen, likely due to hemangiosarcoma. Just as I was prepared to say my goodbyes, she stood up, looked at me, then at the door, and began to walk toward it, as if to say, “Not yet, Mom. Let’s go home.” And so we did.

From that moment, she began to fight back yet again. She found joy in playing, relished her favorite cookies, and savored steak dinners. However, the recent news of a new mass on her heart has now cast a shadow over our time together. I know I can’t change this reality, and it breaks my heart.

Facing this heartbreaking cancer diagnosis, I reflect on the incredible light Bacardi has brought into my life. She deserves to be celebrated every single day she has left. The thought of a future without her terrifies me, but I hold on to the love we’ve shared, knowing it will always remain in my heart.

Bacardi, you are forever my joy, a true warrior with an unyielding will to live life to the fullest. You are my companion, my soul dog. Thank you for every countless moment we’ve shared. I will carry you in my heart forever my angel girl.

Some people ask me why do you do this? Why do you do celebration of life sessions? Do you cry when you edit? Do you get emotional when you’re taking photos? And the answer is yes!

Juno 05/28/26
At 16½ years old, Juno leaves behind a legacy far greater than the years she lived. Though her story did not begin with the love and security she deserved, it ended wrapped in the unwavering devotion of a family who cherished her beyond measure.

When Samantha and Chris adopted Juno in Atlanta, Georgia, at just two years old, her life changed forever. What followed was a journey many dogs could only dream of. She became a world traveler, collecting memories from Denver to Hawaii, exploring hiking trails, relaxing at breweries and cafés, and experiencing every adventure life had to offer by her family’s side.

Juno was a gentle and quiet soul, but her life was not without its remarkable chapters. There was the unforgettable incident involving a fluffy toy and an unexpected trip to the veterinarian, and the heartbreaking discovery that she had been shot sometime before finding her forever home. While her past held evidence of cruelty and hardship, it never defined her. Instead, Juno’s life became a testament to resilience, healing, and the transformative power of love.

Far too many dogs are discarded when they are no longer wanted, but fate had other plans for Juno. She found exactly where she belonged—nestled deeply within the hearts of her mom and dad. There, she was treasured, protected, and given the beautiful life every dog deserves.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that Juno spent her years surrounded by love, adventure, and family. Run free, sweet girl. Fly high as you always have since the day you became part of theirs. Your journey may have begun with uncertainty, but it ended exactly where it was meant to—with a life well lived and a love that will never fade.

Let Me Introduce Myself…

Hi, I’m Krista Rae, the person behind the camera.

Born and raised in San Diego County, California, I was fortunate to experience the best of both worlds growing up. Part of my childhood was spent in the country, where I could ride my horse to school, while the other was spent in the suburbs. Those experiences helped shape my deep appreciation for both animals and the people who love them.

My passion for animals began at an early age and has only grown over the years. Throughout my life, I’ve cared for a wide variety of animals, including horses, dogs, cats, chickens, tortoises, turtles, fish, bearded dragons, chameleons, corn snakes, ball pythons, and even a few insects along the way. Today, my home is shared with three dogs, a leopard gecko, and four tortoises.

After high school, I pursued studies in media and production while developing my photography skills. Photography quickly became more than a creative outlet—it became a way to combine my love for storytelling with my lifelong connection to animals.

In addition to photography, my husband and I own and operate , a pet care company that proudly celebrates its fourth year in business this year. Between my professional and personal experiences, I have spent more than 25 years working with animals, and I continue to love every moment of it.

I feel incredibly grateful to travel and do what I love: capturing meaningful moments between pets and the people who cherish them. Every family, every animal, and every story is unique. Being trusted to preserve those memories is an honor I never take for granted. I truly believe this path was always part of God’s plan for my life, and I’m thankful every day that it has led me here.
