“I have to return some videotapes.” —Bateman 🔪📼

Not a theme shop. Not a nostalgia stunt.
Just shelves stacked to the ceiling, a chalkboard that reads “We Know Movies,” and one soul keeping the place alive.

We spent the afternoon snapping around one of the last video stores in San Francisco and the entire country for our latest with SFGATE

Scribe Timothy Karoff takes you through the aisles for a behind-the-scenes look our main attraction— Video Wave of Noe Valley . Shoutout to The Criterion Collection for continuing to curate & present the best titles in the history of cinema.

Long live analog media and always remember before returning: Be kind, rewind 📼⏪

Shot this one over three days to get it just right 📸 From the haze of the jukebox to the flickering glow of that classic SF neon on Mission Street to all all the diverse, working-class souls of this great City in between.

Doc's Clock ain’t some kitschy theme bar—it’s the real deal and has been that way for over twenty years thanks to owner Carey Suckow, who still kept it alive through a relocation, a pandemic, a shuffleboard table crossing, and enough landlord drama to warrant an entire week on The People’s Court. Furthermore, she has tremendous respect for humanity, welcoming people of all walks, she keeps the noise in check for her neighbors, and has mad love for the overall community—a rarity amongst soulless profiteers slinging watered-down fifty dollar cocktails.

Once again, city slicker extraordinaire & Dive Bar Columnist Broke-Ass Stuart wrote the h3ll outta this story for SFGATE , complete with donkey games, a painting with a d**g, and a cast of Mission locals keeping it weird and thriving.

Long live the Clock. Long live reasonable drinks and business owners who give a damn.

Big ups to Charlie, Dan, & Grant per uzhe for trusting our eyes each and every time and to everyone out on these San Francisco streets supporting small businesses as such—the storied soul of the Barbary Coast 🌁

Proud to share that our photo series “DIY Punk Show on Public Transit” is once again recognized by a prestigious photo award.

That’s two in this same year 2023 with International Photography Awards and American Photography 39. Thank you for your consideration!

And shouts to the bands False Flag & Surprise Privilege along with everyone herein that showed up on that fine winter night for the one-of-a-kind, full-on SHOW on a MOVING BART train.

Once again and as always, many thanks to SFGATE—Charlie, Dan, & Grant—for the trust & a long leash into the middle of chaos…no other place we’d rather be 🎭📸✨

Missed it? 💀 Link below for the story by Sam Mauhay-Moore & our full visual series on the most incredible show of the year, hands down /
