Jay Ligda Photography

Jay Ligda Photography I'm always seeking new ways of seeing — unique perspectives that reveal hidden beauty. Photography is my way of reshaping perception.

From film in the '80s to drones today, I aim to stir wonder, curiosity, and connection through each image I share. As I go about my days, I’m constantly seeking new ways of seeing — unique perspectives that reveal the world in ways we often overlook. Photography has always been a tool for me to reshape perception, a two-dimensional window into a multi-dimensional reality which can become a metapho

r for life. My journey with photography began in the late 1980s as a creative exploration. Though I stepped away from the camera for a time, I returned in 2006 with the rise of digital photography — and in 2022, everything changed again when I purchased a drone. What started as a fun idea to capture aerial shots of our home construction project turned into a whole new artistic adventure. The drone opened perspectives that were once impossible to access. Many of the photographs you see here were captured from the sky, through the lens of that drone. These aerial images are more than just unique vantage points — they are glimpses into a layered reality, snapshots of beauty and meaning that often go unseen from the ground. Enjoy this glimpse into my vision. It’s my hope that these images stir something in you — a sense of wonder, curiosity, or connection — and offer a new way of seeing the world we all share.

📸 Low Sunset Deep Cloud Color

In my early days of owning and flying a drone, I would fly very often from the backyard of my house. I could clear the neighborhood trees and houses to get an uncluttered view of the sunsets. This was one of those.

This was captured one morning with the drone. I had to get it low to the water and close to the bridge to get the angle of the clouds.

📸 Benicia Depot Sunrise Behind Shimmering Reflections

This was a remarkable morning. The water was so still that the clouds reflected like a mirror. From the drone, there seemed to be amazing photographs in every direction. I took many that morning, including this one. I especially like the low angle over the water, which emphasizes the mirror-like reflection and reveals just how unusually calm the strait was.
