The foxes have all grown up and left the den (or at least moved to another one). Here are some more of my favorites. I hope I get to see a new litter next year!

Am I the only one who sees expressions in the faces of animals?

This little guy fox gave me quite the range of looks! 🦊

Photographing fox kits has definitely been one of the highlights of my spring!

Have you ever looked for something for a long time and then finally found it?

I have been looking for an opportunity to photograph coyote pups for several years now, and recently I found what I was looking for!

Coyotes are notoriously secretive and are rarely seen despite living extremely close to humans (even in a big city like Atlanta)!

To narrow my search down I used lidar maps to identify ideal den locations, scouted them in person outside of denning season, and then observed from a distance with thermal imaging to identify the active den.

I got a few images of the pups from a great distance (these pictures are heavily cropped) before mom showed up a few minutes later and I knew it was time to leave.

Photographing baby animals always comes with a risk of disturbing them, so I was very careful not to get too close and to leave quickly when the mom arrived. I was able to confirm several days later (from an even greater distance) that the pups were still resent at the den and my brief approach had not led to its abandonment.

(Coyote moms will often move the pups to new dens throughout the denning season and especially if they fear the den has been discovered by humans).

I hope you enjoy!

Can you tell a difference between these two images?

I tried different export settings on one of them which in theory should make it look better on Instagram vs the regular settings I’ve been using. Curious to see what the difference is!

If you hunt or fish in Georgia you’ve likely seen the 2025-2026 Hunting & Fishing regulation guide from either free in a store or online, but did you recognize the photo on the front?!

Taken by yours truly back in 2016 along the Chattahoochee River in the (where hunting is not allowed, but fishing is). This wood duck was one of the first ones I saw on the river and it was as surprised to see me in my kayak as I was to see it! 🦆🛶

It was quite the surprise to go into a Walmart and see stacks of them with a photo I took sitting in the outdoor section.
