In the hush of twilight, I light a flame to honor the harvest, to give thanks for what has ripened, and to release what must fade.

As the wheel turns to Mabon, the equinox invites us into balance, equal hours of light and dark. With the veil stirring and growing thin, even the smallest flame becomes a beacon between worlds. The candle becomes both sun and hearth, carrying the warmth of summer into the gathering dark.

May your autumn equinox be filled with some moments in nature to experience the subtle shifts in the land.

We are just 9 days away from the next turning of the wheel to the autumn equinox. Feeling like the seasons have been long but then all of a sudden they change and I’m not ready for it.

So stoked to have this image featured in this autumn’s Witches magazine alongside a beautiful piece, “Season of the Witch: A Sacred Invitation to Remember Your Magic, Heal the Witch Wound, and Honour Your Lineage this Samhain” by Nicole Barton

As the light shifts and summer gives way to fall, there’s a quiet invitation to turn inward, to honor the cycles, and to reconnect with the threads of magic woven through us all.

Super excited to be doing a shoot tomorrow with again. This one is from 2022 where we took inspiration from the Kinuko Y Craft painting of Psyche’s Curiosity.
Tomorrow’s shoot is a witchy, liminal portrait of what I’m calling ‘the final sheaf’ it will involve ideas of surrender, harvest, and death. I’ve already crafted the magical scythe she will be using, next up is the headpiece. You can check out my stories to see the progress.

I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?

Happy Lughnasadh! We are halfway between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox. How will you be honoring the turning of the wheel? I plan to make some house charms from some dried oats I gathered earlier this summer. Perhaps if I find myself with some corn husks I will make a corn dolly also!
