Sometimes friends spring up in surprising places.

Me...Hey Cat I'm coming to London.
Cat... Ok, Send me the dates so you can stay with me.
Me... Naw... That's ok, I don't want to inconvenience you.
Cat...Let's make it happen.
Me.. Really? Ok, I'll send them over.

Rewind a few years.
I'm in a Zoom room of coaches.

The room is silent and it feels awkward and stiff. Normally we would be chatting away. But today is different.

George Floyd an innocent black man, has just died at the hands of a police officer with his knee to his neck.

I am the only black person in the room.
My heart is in my stomach.

I feel a shortness of breath as if I'm also on the ground fighting to breathe.

I don't know what to say.

I feel angry, hopeless, and overwhelmed.

I'm usually the optimistic one.
But today it's different.
I'm different.

I consider if I can speak my truth here.

My heart spills open.
All the anger confusion, and hopelessness spill out.

I begin to cry hot tears.
but I am not alone.

One by one, each person shares from their heart.
And we all leave better forward it.

Cat is one of the beautiful humans who continued to hold space for me when things weren't pretty.

And so when I was set to visit London for the first time she was the one I called.

PS: I'm currently writing a book exploring how we as heart-centered entrepreneurs can grow our business by creating connection instead of content.

Today I was working on some grey scale graphics, then in a flash I thought of the person who taught me this particular trick. ⁣
⁣
My heart dropped, and tears begin to flow, because he is no longer here with us. ⁣
⁣
Last year, he had some big health issues, and died too young. But What made the tears flow even more was that He & I were working together to get his unique brand of Impact out into the world. ⁣
⁣
His impact was great, he served others well, but felt he wanted to offer that which was unique to him.⁣
⁣
He was a giver, and a connector who always thought of others. THIS was part of his legacy. ⁣
⁣
And even though his vision of getting his unique work out in a way that he was planning was cut short, ⁣
⁣
he was still able to leave a trail of generosity and impact too great to be measured.⁣
⁣
This made me think... ⁣
⁣
⁣

What’s up Fam. It’s been a minute. What is everybody up to? I have been on an unscheduled sabbatical and it felt sooooooo good! But guess what today I’m back and I’m feeli refreshed!!⁣
⁣
Here’s what I’ve been up to for the last few weeks.⁣
First of all THIS happened. I got to hang out my DUDE! the man himself . He is such an inspiration to me, and if you don’t know him you need to!!! Especially if you have purpose driven work you need to do before you leave this world, (which is all of us right?!)⁣
⁣
I’ll do a separate post about what this Life changing experience was like for me.
⁣
Also, I’ve finished The Artist’s way!!! and it’s been an epic initiator of great things in my life. I guess I am a recovering artist. (I still am VERY uncomfortable calling myself an artist out loud) more on this later as well.⁣
⁣

And the fun still continues, this week, I’m going to the Moth!!! One of my most fabulous Mentors suggested it to me, after going through her story workshop! Which is one of the most incredible workshops I’ve been through cultivating the power and SKILL of story in you life and in your business.⁣

Which leads me to the next thing. I joined The right company an awesome community lead by the fearless of people who are fierce, heart centered, kind and just the best.⁣
⁣
I also finished up my amazing stint as the community ambassador for the one of a kind Love over Metrics Business Mentorship lead by my fierce and kindred soul mentor . It was my absolute PLEASURE to serve such a humble, yet fierce heart centered woman as Jadah. Her mark and gifts to my life are immeasurable. And I am so grateful to have her as a mentor in my life.⁣
