Tiny cute island foxes grooming each other

Santa Cruz Island in the Channel Islands is home to an endemic island fox species. This tiny fox weighs only 4-5 pounds and is about the size of a house cat. Most of the foxes I saw on the island seemed to be solitary, but this pair liked to frequent the campground together. I captured these videos of them allogrooming and it has to be one of the cutest things I have ever seen. I hope you enjoy this footage as much as I do!

Northern lights in Wyoming!! We were in Grand Teton National Park for a long weekend when a wildlife management volunteer told us there was a chance of aurora borealis. So we went to That Barn™️ and I got this shot of the sky glowing pink.

turns out it was the wrong barn 🤣

That's a photo lifer!! The first time I saw a Greater Roadrunner was back in February. I looked up from pitching my tent at my campsite in Death Valley National Park and one of these goofy guys was just watching me from a few feet away. My camera was still in the car and it scampered off.

Yesterday, while birding in southern Colorado, I happened upon two (two!) by the side of the road.

This one would walk toward the road, hear a car driving up, and RUN RUN RUN back up the hill. This happened a few times before it found a safe moment to run across the road.

Such a cool experience. 🥰

Native plants are crucial for wildlife of all kinds. I took these photos yesterday of a lesser goldfinch (1) and an American goldfinch (2) feeding on seeds from sunflowers in the native plant garden at Denver Audubon's Kingery Nature Center.

Here are some resources on Colorado native plants for birds: https://www.denveraudubon.org/colorado-native-plant-resources
