Scripted Scene Showdown! at Rayo Del Alma Gallery

Buckle Up! It's going to be a… showdown… wait no, just a nice group of people who love acting and wish to practice scenes!

When: Weekly on Tuesdays 6pm-8pm

Where: 130 West Palace Ave, Suite A (Downstairs) Santa Fe, NM 87501

Who: Actors of all experience levels, from beginner to professional, who wish to practice scripted scenes in a supportive and collegial environment. Intended for both casual learners and professionals who wish to practice.

Writers are welcome to take the class as well; bring a three page script to class and get your very own table read! I highly recommend writers getting experience as actors, and other parts of film production.

$20, first come, first served. Can pay ahead of time to guarantee your spot.

All participants are guaranteed at least one scene, ran twice. Scenes are 1-3 screenplay pages/1-3 minutes long. Participants can open the floor to supportive peer critique, or they can pass.

Facilitator: Diego Romero - SAG-AFTRA

With appearances in Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Gunslingers and Primo, to name a few productions, and as a film professor at Northern New Mexico College, Diego has over thirty years experience in front of the lens, behind the lens, and as a mentor for other creatives. His gallery, Rayo Del Alma, intends to foster community among local artists and performers.

It's sad to hear that the "Taos Welcome Tree" has fallen due to high winds.

It was one of those landmarks I loved seeing over the last fourty some years. Coming up out of the cañoncito, or heading into it, it was always there in greeting.

It's branches gently waving as you past.

For years I had imagined a photo w/the Milky Way and the tree and for years it never quite worked out.

Finally, about two years ago, when I was in Taos for the "Big Barn Dance", the stars finally aligned and I got the shot I had been imagining.

But, I almost didn't.

I took my time getting there, stopping to try other spots along the way. As I was pulled over, setting up my tripod, some emergency vehicles flew by me, followed by a tow truck a few minutes later.

When I got to the Welcome Tree, awhile later, the tow truck was loading up a minivan that had either crashed into the tree, or had come close. Everyone involved seemed to be OK, and I kept driving.

After a few other stops, I went back and spent the next hour taking pics.

This is one of them, titled "Hágoóneeʼ". A few years ago I was working on learning Diné Bizaad and my teacher, jokingly serious, said "Navajo don't say 'goodbye', we say 'hágoóneeʼ'."

It seemed like the perfect title for this photo.

I have a limited number of artist proofs available as a 12"×8" on infused aluminum.
