I'm departing Facebook soon and I urge you to do the same. This platform does its best to pull back the layers to the deplorable beneath--that ugly side that has always been there but is now on the surface. It feeds bitterness in the briniest of ways, and I can't stand it anymore. In all my years I can't recall a time when everything was so polarized and rigid. And while I'm not naive enough to believe we can return to simplicity, I dumbfounded at the willingness of so many people to submit to the very, very few and still think that they're "free".

Welcome to the Kakistocracy.

Update. We're not out of this yet. Los Angeles is under tremendous strain right now. While several friends have been devastated by this historic event, we've managed to get by. The firefighters and rescue people--the real heroes--have been battling these blazes non stop for days now; there's no rain in the forecast and the humidity remains very low. Please keep the City of Angels in your thoughts. It's going to be a very long road to build back, but we will.

Peace,

Thomas Morgan
