We're finally back home from our two-week trip to the Denver Arts Festival and Spokane ArtFest with a brief trip to Grand Teton National Park in between. Thank you so much to everyone who was able to make it out and see us at shows and for your support! And it was a pleasure getting to meet and chat with old and new art friends along the circuit. We always love chatting with everyone about adventures and sharing our artwork. Our next show is the Edmonds Arts Festival just around the corner on June 19th-21st.

Happy International Dark Sky Week! A very fitting visitor is in our sky for this week: Comet C/2025 R3 PanSTARRS. This shot is one of my favs from 2020 when comet NEOWISE was in the sky. Unfortunately, I haven't photographed the new comet yet, as Washington state is still in its rainy phase. Hopefully, it will give me a clear day to try and catch the comet during its peak. Feel free to comment with any questions about the comet and I'll try my best to answer them.

Hope you all get to enjoy some time under the stars

This year I have a goal of shooting more star trails. I find it incredibly interesting to see the motion of the stars all in one shot. Depending on what direction you face and your location, you will get to capture trails with different curvature and direction. I go over this in both my book and workshops on how to plan and shoot star trails. They can take a while to create, as you need about a minimum of 2 hours to start getting a decent star trail, but they start getting really good once you pass the 4-hour mark.

The annular solar eclipse back in 2023 was stunning over Monument Valley. I named this piece after one of my favorite songs by & by the same name, "House of the Fallen Suns."

As we road-tripped to Monument Valley from Snohomish, Washington, there were many tunes blasted from our little Bose speaker on the dash (the van's radio didn't work well at the time). During roughly 19 and a half hours of driving one way (don't worry, we took it in two days), we listened to all sorts of music. But Rabbit Junk is for sure a band that comes up frequently on my Walkman MP3 player.

Once I was shooting the eclipse and everything was falling into place, I knew the name "House of the Fallen Suns" would be a perfect fit. It was freezing cold with the wind chill that morning as the eclipse was in October, but watching that sunrise over the horizon going through all the phases of the eclipse was picture-perfect. The eclipse being right outside our tent was just an added benefit.

Planning out the year's events today, checking in on all the art shows we applied to this year, and seeing how we can fit in more adventures this coming year. Dan and I will be heading out to New Jersey for the first time this year, and hopefully if things go to plan, maybe we will be able to see a new country this year as well. I strangely enough haven't been to Canada yet even though the drive is surprisingly close for where I live in Washington.
