I’m excited to be on my way to Tri-Cities Radcon where I get to show my new work in their wonderful art show as well as have the honor of attending as their Artist Guest of Honor for this year!

This new piece was created to fit their “Aliens” theme and I can’t wait to see it on the cover of the program book. Looking forward to a wonderful weekend!

The Daughter of Death (Tuonen tytti) is a goddess of the underworld in Finnish mythology and the gatekeeper between the world of the living and the land of the dead. If someone arrives at the river of the dead’s shore and calls her, she goes to meet them on her boat to bring them into the realm – but only if she’s convinced they are truly dead. Responsible for not letting the living come to Tuonela, if she recognizes a liar she cuts them down with a mighty sword.

I drew inspiration from Finnish mythology for this piece between the figure of Tuonen tytti and also from the legend of a giant, black, man-eating swan from their myths, to give inspiration to her appearance.

I had never heard of Tuonen tytti until in her book and was completely captivated by the insanely rich world of Finnish mythology!!!

One of the comments I kept hearing from fans was “If only I had more room on my walls I’d buy that print!”

I get it. I don’t have everything framed I want to myself, and a big part of that is because I can’t easily find frames for many prints I’ve collected. This led me to printing 8x10 versions of my art, in addition to the larger more traditional sizes.

And you know what? They’re my most popular selling item at shows.

Making art that speaks to my audience is my goal, but making it accessible and affordable is also something dear to my heart! Now that I’m doing all my own prints myself (eek!) I can easily offer these options.

So pick up a small print this weekend at Washington State Summer Con and stick it in that extra frame you already have at home 🖤

My friend Ashley is the quiet beauty poets write of. She said yes to my crazy photoshoot ideas, which lead us to back mountain roads and wild adventures. We got the shot that eventually became of of my best selling pieces, The Dawn of Hel, but this one remains one of my favourites.

It is with friends who can see into your soul that are the ones who pull you back to inspiration. I’m so thankful for friends like Ashley, who over the past decade, remain one of my biggest cheerleaders, and I always hope to live up to her faith in my art.

For her first time modelling, can we just all agree she’s a natural??!

SO EXCITED to finally share the news - I made a book cover!

The book "Low-Key Calamities" is a collection of short stories by author Elliott Kay featuring a collection of short stories from his previous book series, and it launched yesterday!

As a local Seattle author, Elliott and I became connected through fantasy conventions and I was beyond honored when asked me to illustrate his next cover. It was a great process working with him from start to finish and I loved learning about the worlds of his books. I'm so thankful he trusted me to come up with a concept that touched on each of the different series and let me bring my own style into the piece.

For any artist, when someone commissions you because they love your art style, it is the highest of compliments. So thank you so much Elliott Kay for this opportunity! I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

The Lady of the Lake will be available at the Norwescon 44 Art Show THIS WEEKEND!

Her last appearance was her debut showing, where she won first place 🥇 in the Art Show. I, still to this day, couldn’t be more honored to have won that award. It truly was the shifting point in my journey as an artist.
