I just sent a completely unhinged, unplanned email to my subscriber list but life’s short ya know? And I like sharing things when the words call. So here’s a short version to let y’all know where I’m at + where to find me.

Okay! So here’s the thing. I really love working and creating and collabing and all things entrepreneurship. But I also love being home with my babies and being fully present in this season. And also... I kind of want to
go back to school / write a book / become a painter of sorts? / work for a company - maybe, maybe not. Love that for myself and also f**k me lol. Sorry to cuss but that’s just how I feel. I guess you could say it’s
been a catch-22.

So that’s where I’m at. On a journey of discovery. Taking work here and there. Keeping a super chill schedule. And investing in myself / my future. I’m also taking the whole ā€œfinding myself in my 30’sā€ really
seriously which has been fun and emotional as hell.

With that, my photo work is alive and well (limited availability), OHSIA is under construction so client work is paused (for now, not forever) + I’ve started writing! Kind of. On Substack. So that’s where I’ll be investing
most of my time.)

You can find all of my links at www.demrirayanne.co — link in bio ā˜ļø

I’m also in a ā€œdone is better than perfectā€ phase so you will 100% find broken links, missing pages + old info
on my site(s) but that’s okay I suppose.

Thank you so much for (still) being here. You already know I’ve been doing this thing messy and in my own
way for over 10 years now. So it means a ton to have your continued love and support!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out via DM or email ([email protected]). I’d love to connect and hear
what YOU have been up to.

Hope to talk soon!!! I love ya and this complicated beautiful little life.

We come from a village. Where community existed in close quarters. The garden was just around the corner and you were surrounded by familiar faces. You could feel the energy. Everyone doing their part. The village created life. It also sustained it. Birthing art and connection and ideas and discussion. The village is where it all started. And yet, we have left it all behind.

THE VILLAGE

i think as mom’s/parents, we want to curate the most magical memories and moments. but what our little ones will remember most, is how something (so simple) made them feel.

like running through a windy park as laughter floods their ears. now that’s magic.

and a memory thatā€˜s worth celebrating.

if all you did was share a laugh with your kids today while laundry piled up. or you paused mid-melt down and danced it out in the living room (us), you’re doing enough. you’re creating enough. you are, enough.

I got teary eyed going through these sessions because I know how much each of these moms/women have sacrificed. Motherhood is something you can’t quite put into words but it is something you can feel. Looking at these images is a reminder of that.

Happy Mother’s Day. To the mothers, mother figures, mothers to be, moms who have experienced loss and those who are trying to conceive.

You are so powerful and magical and beautiful. You are everything.

hey babe. there was never anything wrong with you. your nervous system was simply saying ✨f*** off✨ to a system that was built to keep us sick.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

i’ve struggled most of my life with feeling like i don’t quite fit. sometimes id fit into a box, but that box contradicted another that i felt called to.

it was a big fat mind f***, really.

and now that i’m 30 — and a mom of 2 — i can see the pattern so clearly.

i spiral when i try to choose a lane.

when labels consume me.

and when i resist who i (innately) am.

and yet it’s too damn easy to get back in line… to get caught up in the cycle.

however, naming it helps.

reminding myself (and others) that it was never supposed to be this way.

🦢 que a big deep breath in and a deep breath out 🦢

AHHHH

we’re just a bunch of cute little weirdos (and i mean that in the best possible way) who are trying to find their way.

so say it with me! f*** the system. let’s studying the art of living. outside of the lines and in a space of unity.

celebrating our differences. aging into them. with confidence and clarity.

feeling into the discomfort, instead of running from it.

and having a sh** ton of grace for ourselves because ✨it’s complicated✨.

i love you.

i’m working on loving me.

we’re in it together — whether we like it or not — in an orbit of inner connected energy and experiences and conflict.

whatever that means. lol

signing off until the next mind f*** quest.

p.s. i truly enjoy cussing as a form of expression and rebellion. that’s probably the ex church kid in me 😁 but i think it’s here to stay šŸ’‹

MOTHER-ing (a personal essay on the state of being a mother in a modern world)

there’s so much noise around what being a mom should and could look like.

and i swear, all of the differing opinions are growing louder by the minute.

labels are shoved down our throats in the form of curated content — influencing us to find our way into a box.

f*ck.

it’s all too much, isn’t it? the questions and expectations.

we were never meant to consume all of this information, in this amount.

what we need isn’t more information (although knowledge is power)…

I’m in a season of life where all I want is to get back to the basics.

To forget about all of the rules of social media, society and this industry, and to sink deeper into why I fell in love with the medium in the first place.

I fell in love with the art of it all. Getting caught up in a moment and capturing it through a very unique and specific lens. Gathering photographs that can’t be replicated. And experiencing human connection through a relational approach that comes before anything else.

I loved how simple it was to follow my instincts and create. Even if … especially if … it wasn’t perfect. Or curated. Or on trend. I created because I felt compelled.

That’s beautiful.

It also translates to so many things. Dancing through life, with wonder and intent.

What if we did that? What if we followed our instincts and left the rest behind.

What if we stopped caring so much about how we are perceived, and started caring more about how something felt.

Especially when it comes to our day to day. Romanticizing each and every thing and honoring what feels aligned.

So will you promise me something?

Will you try to get back to the basics? Simplifying your process. Playing with the possibility that less can be more. And honoring whatever it is that works for you, and not someone else?

Report back with your findings :) I’m rooting for you. For us. And our creative selves.

Xx,
D
