So... a few months back I excitedly signed up to donate a charm to the traveling belt. I told myself that this is a great way to start silversmithing. I would use silversmithing tools and techniques and learn to expand my skills.... well.... 3 months, alot (like ALOT of melted silver), and more than a couple cuss words later I've mailed it off... I almost quit, almost went back to things I've done before and quit trying to silversmith, and then almost quit again... but I did it. It's all in copper and very VERY far from my original plan, and far far FAR from perfect.. but I present to you Persistence... the very stubborn spotted Missouri Mule.

This has been an opportunity to not only expand my skill set and meet new and awesome people but a way to give back to another passion of mine. Horses and the people who own them and love them. Horsemanship and the cowboy way of life has always been part of who I am. I may no longer really ride or show and instead participate in this awesome world by helping the awesome veternarians that keep our equine athletes competing at their best. At the end of all this, the charm I made will join over 300 others like it on a charm belt, this charm belt will then be raffled off at the NFR and the proceeds will go to the Justin Boots Cowboy Crisis Fund which helps out injured rodeo athletes and their families in the event of an accident.

So if any of my friends are headed out to the NFR this year find the belt! Maybe get a few pics! I'll not be able to see the finished product in person but I would love it if someone I know gets to see it!!
