For the past week, this page has looked a little less like sunrises, wildlife, and Brunswick County beauty… and a lot more like baseball.

My apologies to those of you who follow along for the coastal scenes. The Dixie Youth District Tournament has completely hijacked my attention—and honestly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Over the last several days, I’ve had a front-row seat to something special. I’ve watched young athletes battle through pressure, celebrate victories, handle disappointment, support teammates, and show the kind of heart and grit that help shape boys into men. Those moments matter.

Tonight, this group added a District Championship banner to their story, and I couldn’t be more proud of them.

Congratulations to the Shallotte All-Stars. The journey continues, and I can’t wait to see the noise they make in the State Tournament next month.

And for everyone waiting on beach sunrises, pelicans, marshes, and Brunswick County scenery…

Your regularly scheduled programming returns tomorrow. 📸⚾️🏆

Someone asked how many photos I’ve taken so far. The answer is somewhere between 15,000 and 16,000 images over the last three days. I only wish that number sounded ridiculous because it wasn’t true. ⚾️📸

The road to a championship isn’t paved in a single game.

For the last two days, I’ve been on the sidelines capturing the highs, lows, big hits, diving plays, and unforgettable moments of the Dixie Youth Division Tournament.

And we’re not done yet.

Several teams are still fighting for the chance to keep playing, and I’ll be back at the field tonight to document the next chapter.

Good luck to all the players still chasing a title. âšľđź“·

Two seasons in, and I still can't fully explain what it is about this gig that gets me.

Out at the district tournament today shooting for Dixie Youth Baseball. I’m watching the Shallotte Minors and Majors all-star teams — made up of kids I've had the privilege of photographing for the last two years — just absolutely crushing it on the field.

I didn't grow up with these kids. I'm not their coach, not their parent. But somewhere between all the games, the dugout celebrations, and the candid moments in between, I feel like I know them. I've watched them grow. And today, seeing them out there competing at this level? It's genuinely something special.

To the coaches I now call friends, and to the families who've welcomed me on the sidelines — thank you. This is one of those things that reminds me exactly why I love what I do.

Let's go get that state tournament. 📸

Sometimes the best wildlife encounters aren’t eagles, herons, or deer.

Sometimes they’re hiding in the middle of a flower smaller than your thumb.

Most people think wildlife photography is about finding the animal.

It’s not.

Finding the right light is usually harder.

This egret was exactly where it needed to be when the sun dipped low enough to turn ordinary white feathers into something special.

Photographers: what’s more important—the subject or the light?

Met the crew of the High Rider at the dock in Varnamtown as they came in from their latest run. Commercial sh*****ng has been part of this coast for generations — wanted to document it while it's still here.

Got out on a local shrimp boat today as they brought in the catch. This is what fresh looks like before it ever sees a dock. Brunswick County commercial sh*****ng is a way of life that's been here for generations — glad to document it while it's still here.
