If you stop by the Pottsville Film Festival this weekend, you might see a familiar face... Well, on the screen at least.

The festival runs all weekend at the Majestic Theater in Pottsville, but, from 2pm to 4pm Saturday is the Documentary and Animation block.

That includes a documentary dubbed Kielbasy Heaven. Produced by Carlos Alvarez of Florida State University, it highlight's Kowalonek's Kielbasy Shop here in town.

I was fortunate enough to be asked to participate.

Tickets for that screening can be found here: https://cur8.com/18375/project/139262

Info on the rest of the film festival: https://majestictheater.net/film-festival.html

PS: the documentary is up for Best Documentary at the film festival.

Yeah, no.

A railroad hasn't run to or through Shenandoah Borough since the 1970's.

If I'm wrong, I'll be glad to get photos of the train crossing the borough line. I'll be waiting awhile.

A fair warning if you live in Shenandoah: borough police is doing overnight parking enforcement. Officer was out at 2am hitting cars on the west end.

Main issue, though, is their enforcement last night is creating an incredibly dangerous situation, mark my words.

If you're familiar with town at all, you know how dangerous the intersection of Gilbert and Centre is. It's one of only three intersections in town to average at least one crash a year over a decade (behind Main and Centre and the Gold Star Plaza).

I've written about it numerous times. I've asked borough council personally numerous times to make Gilbert a one-way coming off Centre to Lloyd and to Oak.

They won't. Three different administrations, lip service every time. "We'll look into it." It's an issue that predates me.

Residents, going back at least 23 years, have parked facing away from Centre if they know better.

Overnight, that's become a problem for Shenandoah PD. Every car parked facing north on the west side of Gilbert was ticketed around 2am by a new Officer Moyer.

Legally, sure, the tickets are for a valid violation of state law. But, law enforcement officers have discretion and forcing drivers to face and exit the neighborhood via a dangerous intersection with minimal sightlines... that's questionable at best and a death sentence at worst.

There's a reason everyone on this block parks facing Lloyd and it isn't a dereliction of state law.

So, again, I will reiterate my calls to Shenandoah Borough Hall to change the traffic pattern on Gilbert for the sake of safety, especially if you're going to punish residents for looking out for said safety.

So here's a fun story: people can't get my name right.

Yeah, sure, I'm used to my last name being spelled all sorts of different ways, but this is another story.

Now, I don't mean to shame the folks involved, I just got a laugh out of the situation and wanted to share.

Twice in the past two weeks, I've been flagged down by fans of my work. Both people knew my work from the Sentinel and from posting photos on her and whatnot. One was at Kielbasi Fest and another at a parade today.

The kicker? Neither could remember my name off the top of my head and BOTH came up with Lindsay (or Lindsey, who knows how they would've spelled it.)

I suppose it makes sense with my last name?

Though, the second time, I immediately said "wait, how has this happened twice??"

Now, like I said, I've been called so many different first names: Kaitlyn (a local politician ALWAYS called me this), Kylee (probably the most common one), Kaylin, Katie... All K-sounding names, though. Lindsay threw me for a loop.
