There’s something about this image that takes me straight back to Misty of Chincoteague. 🤍🐴

Maybe it’s the foal. Maybe it’s the morning mist. Maybe it’s that beautiful golden light spilling across the field and making everything feel just a little bit magical.

There’s only one problem with that comparison…

Chincoteague is a fair distance from Poland. 😉

This was taken during one of the most memorable sunrises of our photography trip. As the light began to break through the mist, this pair wandered into it and completely captured my heart.

It was one of those mornings when you almost forget about the camera for a moment and simply take in what’s unfolding in front of you.

Almost. 📷

Because when the light looks like this, you definitely keep shooting.

And something tells me this beautiful pair may make another appearance here before my Poland collection is finished. 🤍

There’s nothing quite like dogs, kids, and ponies. 🤍

The kind of moments that seem so ordinary while they’re happening, but somehow become the ones we remember.

A little girl stretched across the back of a good pony. A dog wandering the shoreline.
The sea quietly rolling in around them.

No posing. No grand moment.

Just childhood, trust, and the quiet magic that happens when kids and animals find one another.

Some photographs capture what something looked like. The best ones remind us what it felt like. 🤍

A little piece of summer along the Baltic Sea in Poland that I’m very glad I got to keep.

**Determination.**

There are moments when a photograph seems to name itself.

One horse out in front.
The herd behind her.
The morning sun directly in her path.

No hesitation. No looking back. Just forward.

This was one of those incredible mornings in Poland when we were up before the sun, cameras ready, waiting to see what the light and the horses would give us.

And then this happened.

A beautiful Gypsy horse broke ahead of the herd, moving straight through the golden morning light while the others emerged from the mist behind her.

For just a fraction of a second, everything came together.

Light. Movement. Dust. Horses.

Happy World Photography Day. 📷

Photography has taken me places I never imagined I would go.

It has put me on beaches before sunrise, beneath castle walls, in forests and fields, and most recently, halfway around the world in Poland with a camera in my hands and horses in front of my lens.

And every once in a while, it gives me a fraction of a second like this one.

Four hooves off the ground.
Mane flying.
Pure Friesian power and joy suspended in midair.

The moment itself was over almost as quickly as it began.

But that is the magic of photography.

A fraction of a second becomes something you get to keep forever.

On World Photography Day, I’m especially grateful for all the places this camera has taken me, all the horses and people I’ve met along the way, and all the moments still waiting to be captured.

Here’s to chasing light, moments, and the next adventure through the lens. ❤️📷🐴

Sometimes you go out looking for shooting stars… and come home with something entirely different. ✨

Last week, while on St. Simons Island, Georgia, I headed out during the Perseid meteor shower hoping to catch a meteor streaking across the sky behind the lighthouse.

The meteors had other plans. Not a single one cooperated for this frame. 😂

But standing there beneath that incredible field of stars, watching the beam from the St. Simons Lighthouse sweep across the night sky, I realized I really didn’t need one.

Sometimes the photograph you planned isn’t the photograph you were meant to make.

And I think this one holds its own without a shooting star. 🌌

There were moments in Poland that felt less like photographs and more like stepping into a painting.

This was one of them.

Tucked beneath the sweeping branches of a willow, Nuka, this beautiful Arabian seemed to simply emerge from the darkness.

No grand pose. No movement needed.

Just a quiet moment, a mouthful of willow, and that unmistakable Arabian face framed by green.

I love photographs like this because they remind me that sometimes the most beautiful images happen when we stop trying to create the moment and simply notice the one already happening.

Tuesday in Poland. 🇵🇱

On a wing and a prayer…

Sometimes that’s all we have. No carefully drawn map. No certainty that the path ahead will unfold the way we imagined. Just a little faith, a little courage, and the willingness to step forward anyway.

There is something about this image that feels as though it belongs in another world. A world of wings and warriors, ancient magic and unlikely bonds. Maybe I’ve been spending a little too much time in the pages of Crescent City, but I can almost imagine the story waiting just beyond the edges of the frame. And yet, perhaps that is what I love most about creating images like this.

For a moment, the ordinary disappears.

A horse becomes something mythical.
A woman becomes the heroine of a story we haven’t yet been told. And the connection between them becomes its own kind of magic. Because maybe we don’t always need to know how the story ends.

Sometimes we simply trust the wings beside us and go forward on a prayer.
