I was shocked this actually worked, but I was able to get my drone to mirror my controller in my truck 🙌🏼

☘️ Chicago goes green! ☘️

Every year for Saint Patrick's Day, the Chicago River is transformed into a glowing shade of green right in the heart of Chicago.

Thousands of people line the bridges and riverwalk to watch one of the city’s most unique traditions — a moment that signals the start of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations across the city.

From above, you really get to see how incredible it looks as boats move through the bright green water and the crowds pack every bridge and sidewalk along the river.

Drone footage from Lake Michigan a month ago today when winter was still hanging on.

One side of the breakwall had open water, while the other side still had broken ice plates floating around.

Also hiding in that open pocket of water are hundreds (maybe over a thousand) ducks that seem to look like Lesser Scaup, but I could be wrong — I'll add in the comments a zoomed in screenshot for the experts to confirm 😉

Even if you don’t watch the whole thing, check out the closing ice shot.
You can actually tell which direction the sunset is just by the colors — one side of the lake turns warm and yellow while the other side stays a deep cold blue.

Caught some really cool tricks on the slopes at Crystal Ridge Ski hill the other day 🏂❄️.

Always fun watching people send it and make it look way easier than it probably is.

Stick around till the end though… apparently someone wasn’t a big fan of the drone being there 😤🤣

This picture was taken last week.
From right to left — Margaret, Joseph L. Block, and Wilfred Sykes — a powerful mix of size, history, and Midwest industry cutting through the winter ice.

🔹 Margaret (Built 1979)
806 ft long | 75 ft beam | ~41,000 tons
One of the larger 800-foot-class lakers, built in Sturgeon Bay and a regular on the Lakes hauling stone, coal, and bulk materials.

🔹 Joseph L. Block (Built 1976)
728 ft long | 75 ft beam | ~36,000+ tons
A River Class self-unloader built in Lorain, Ohio — a steady workhorse moving limestone and aggregates across the Great Lakes.

🔹 Wilfred Sykes (Built 1949)
678 ft long | 70 ft beam | ~23,000 tons
A true Great Lakes veteran. Originally built for Inland Steel, she’s one of the older active U.S.-flagged lakers still sailing today — and was involved in rescuing two survivors from the Henry Steinbrenner in 1953.

You really notice the size when you see the trucks and rail cars next to them — those “big” vehicles suddenly look small.

With the Olympics on, I had to go back and re-edit this fall footage of Copper Peak 🇺🇸

Captured during renovations, this iconic Michigan landmark is set to become the WORLD'S LARGEST artificial ski jump hill — standing 469 feet above the hill with jump distances that can exceed 700 feet. Seeing the cranes on the slope and the scale of this place from the air was unreal.

On a clear day you can see for miles across Lake Superior — all the way into Canada. 🌎

Pretty incredible that something this massive sits right in Michigan so close to my home.

Sun breaking through the clouds.
Scaups riding the open water.
Ice patterns that look like moon craters.

Lake Michigan at golden hour feels almost unreal.

I’ve flown over Lake Michigan a lot…
but this split might be one of the coolest things I’ve seen.

Lake Michigan splitting seasons right down the middle.

This video was shot over Geneva Lake during the snow sculpture competition, and honestly, the best part wasn’t just the view—it was seeing so many families out on the ice, kids playing, and adults acting like kids again.

I’ve watched this video multiple times now and laugh every time because I keep noticing something new I missed before 😄

Also… did anyone else spot the other drone flying through my shot? 👀🫡
What funny moments did you notice in the video?
Bonus points if you caught the parent spinning their kid on the ice 😂

Winter sunsets just hit different ❄️🌅
A different perspective looking out over Geneva Lake during the snow sculpture competition this past weekend in Lake Geneva.

Was anybody else there? What was your favorite sculpture??
