And also, as a wedding vendor, it never carries the same meaning as it does for most.​​​​​​​​

But that is not a complaint at all!​​​​​​​​

I will never take for granted that this is my job! And all the things that go along with it. It's such a blessing!​​​​​​​​

It’s coming to an end.
Whoosh. Fall Busy season and Black Friday mayhem is coming to an end.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I am all up in my feels about it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Although, there were times that it was crazy, I feel so so so blessed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My motto this season was “Harvest the Hustle” and I really feel like I did. And it was sweet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hard work pays off.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was a refreshing and motivating thing to watch.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It gave me the drive to keep going!!!

Thank you to ALL of my sweet clients. I’m excited to see where this next season takes us!

What makes my photographer heart happy​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
It's just a random bridge in a random park. But do you want to know what my photographer eye sees?​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
A natural frame. Do you see the way the trees bend around this cute family. I kept my composure on the outside, but let me tell you, I nearly lept for joy on the inside. Photography composition perfection!!! Gahhh! I love it so much!!​​​​​​​​

Then, that light!!!! Oh that light and the way that it is shining through and reflecting on the leaves of their natural frame.​​​​​​​​

Like serioiusly. I die.​​​​​​​​

And then, to top it off, the leading lines of the bridge, leading you through the image.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I literally could not love this image more!! It speaks to all the artistic parts of my heart. ​​​​​​​​

I’m finally living my dream.
When I was in college, my parents moved to Utah. Their first winter there they wanted to send out Christmas cards to show their friends and family where they had moved.

(This was WAY before social media, no Facebook updates then.)

My best friend came with me to their house and my mom, dad, brother and sister took a cute picture at the front door.

It had just snowed that day, so we decided to go to the little open space next to the house and take some “snow” pictures (we were from Southern California so snow was a novelty).

This turned into a snowball fight and my best friend just kept taking pictures.

These pictures, even 22 years later, are precious to me. Not just the pictures, but the memories that came with them. Oh what I wouldn’t give to have a snowball fight with my mom and dad and brother and sister again in 2002. Those pictures transport me back there.

That is what I strive for in my sessions with these sweet families. Yes, I want you to have a smiling at the camera picture, but I also want you to have the memories of that session, with your family.

That is why I have the Client Experience Guide, to try to prepare you, so you are relaxed and can enjoy the session.

I really want my families to have some “snowball fight” pictures like I do with my family.

My heart explodes!
When I see a composition that I have never seen before at a place that I have photographed many times and that is photographed all the time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That is always the goal. Always. But it is not always possible. But, when it happens...magic!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For me, personally, this first photograph is magical! I always hope that it is for my client also, but it brings me so much joy!

Feeling slow.
The kids are back at school, normal life has resumed. And I am a little devastated.

I am someone who loves to have her people together. That is my happy place. And after a week of bliss, in Florida, real life seems just so cruel.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take me back!!!

So I am getting stuff done, but maybe a little more slowly this morning. The house this too quiet and the trip I planned and look forward to for months is done. I want a re-do.

Never giving up.
I have been shooting weddings for almost TWENTY YEARS! That’s insane. Through every major part of my life, it has been the one constant. Through dating, getting married, having 3 babies, a worldwide pandemic, major life changes. All of those years have fluctuated, there were years I shot 50 weddings and years that I shot 15.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are coming to a time in life of more change and that will mean shooting way less weddings and more families sessions. That is the stage we are at. That is what my family needs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
BUT!! I will always be shooting weddings, even at a smaller volume. For TWO reasons:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) I adore my couples. LOVE them! I am always so grateful for them. And I completely treasure those relationships.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) I love taking pretty pictures! I love the details of weddings and wedding dresses and flowers. All of it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So even though it may be fewer in the future, you will always see Mollie Jane Photography photographing weddings!
