What if the best view in your house wasn't through a window?

That's one of the things I love about living with landscape photography. The right piece doesn't simply fill a wall — it can change where a room takes you.

Desert light. Open skies. A quiet coastline. Mountains you've stood beneath or places you still hope to see.

"Boulders" brings one of my favorite corners of the Sonoran Desert in Carefree, Arizona indoors — warm evening light spilling across those enormous granite formations and saguaros.

Art can be a window.

Permission to do a little less today. 😉

Labor Day may celebrate the work we do, but I think it's also a pretty good day to remember why we do it.

To make a life. To care for people. To build something meaningful. And, hopefully, to leave a little room for moments like this.

"Nordic Tranquility", photographed in Norway, feels about right for today.

Wherever the day finds you, I hope there's a little rest in it.

Some places ask you to look.
Others ask you to listen.

Standing at the Sea of Galilee, I couldn't help thinking about how much happened along these shores — calls answered, storms calmed, lives changed.

And yet what I remember most is the quiet.

Maybe that's part of why I’m so drawn to photographing places like this. Beauty can get our attention long enough for something deeper to find us.

On this Sunday, perhaps that's enough: a little less noise, a little more listening. 🤍

Some places become part of your story long before you realize it.

I first discovered McWay Falls in Big Sur on our honeymoon.

I took a picture, of course. 😉 But I wasn't a professional photographer then. I was simply standing in front of this extraordinary little corner of California thinking it had somehow gathered nearly everything I love into one place.

Ocean. Cliffs. Trees. Waves. A waterfall spilling onto the beach. Taking in the whole scene with my love by my side.

It felt like the perfect place.

Fifteen years later, my husband and I returned to Big Sur for our anniversary.

By then, photography had become much more than a hobby for me—and this time, you better believe I brought the “big” camera. 😂

I knew there was one place I wanted to photograph again.
This was the result.

We celebrated our 27th anniversary this summer, which makes me love this photograph a little differently now. It isn't simply a beautiful landscape to me. It holds a honeymoon, a return trip, the beginnings of a second career, and a whole lot of life lived in between.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I believe so strongly in living with art that means something to you.

We can't stay in our favorite places forever.

But sometimes a photograph can take us right back.

Wildlife has a funny way of making me forget what I was doing.

I can be headed somewhere completely different, with another photograph in mind… and then there it is.

A bison herd beneath a Wyoming sky.
A monkey watching me from the trees.
A flash of iridescent purple hovering for just a second.
An egret putting on an absolutely ridiculous—and magnificent—feather display.
Or an alligator quietly reminding me that perhaps he gets the right of way. 😆

Today is National Wildlife Day, and looking back through these photographs reminded me how many of my favorite travel memories began with simply stopping to watch.

Big, small, beautiful, strange, elegant, slightly intimidating… I never get tired of discovering who else is sharing the landscape with me.

And perhaps that’s one of the things I love most about photography: it keeps me curious enough to notice. ❤️

If you think you know my photography, this one might surprise you. 🌸

I’m naturally drawn to wide-open landscapes, dramatic coastlines and those fleeting moments when the light changes everything.

But sometimes...more is more. 😉

"Garden Symphony" is exactly that kind of photograph—color, texture, shape and glorious abundance all competing for attention at once.

It’s one of the things I love about photography: there isn’t just one kind of beauty worth noticing.

And there isn't just one kind of work in my collection.

Landscapes. Florals. Wildlife. Oceans. Abstracts. Night skies. Quiet moments and wonderfully exuberant ones like this.

What do you want your art to make you feel?

I once had a collector. Tell me she was looking for a photograph she could, “step right into”.

I’ve never forgotten that.

Because when I’m deciding which photographs become part of my fine art collection, I’m not only thinking about whether an image is beautiful.

I’m thinking about what it feels like to LIVE WITH IT.

Maybe it takes you somewhere you love.

Maybe it brings a sense of calm to a busy room.

Maybe the colors give you energy.

Or a wide-open landscape makes you breathe a little deeper.

Maybe it simply makes you happy every time you walk past it.

The art we choose for our homes becomes part of the rhythm of everyday life. And I think the best pieces give us something worth returning to.

So I’m curious: if you were choosing art purely by feeling, what would you want more of in your home right now?

**Well… I’ve been keeping a little bit of news. 🥉**

I’m delighted to share that two of my photographs received **three recognitions** in the 2025–2026 Best Photography Awards!

🌊 *Sanibel Exhale* received **Bronze in the Professional Abstract Photography category**, as well as an **Honorable Mention in Nature**.

☀️ *Peek-a-Boo Sunburst*, photographed in Arches National Park, also received an **Honorable Mention in Nature**.

I love that these two photographs were recognized together because they were created so differently.

*Peek-a-Boo Sunburst* was a fleeting moment—an unexpected alignment of light and landscape that lasted only seconds.

*Sanibel Exhale* was created using intentional camera movement, allowing the colors, light and rhythm of the Gulf to become something softer and more impressionistic—less about what the shoreline looked like and more about what it **felt** like to stand there.

One is about catching a moment.

The other is about letting one unfold.

But both came from the same thing: **paying attention.**

That idea has become increasingly important in my work—creating photographs that offer a little **sanctuary** from the noise, inviting us to pause, rediscover wonder, and simply breathe.

I’m incredibly grateful for this recognition—and especially honored to see *Sanibel Exhale* awarded in the Professional Abstract category.

And one of my favorite parts? The award-winning *Sanibel Exhale* is currently hanging on Sanibel Island itself at Kelson Gallery. 🌊

That feels just about perfect. 🤍
