Stop by the Dana-Thomas House between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm and get your picture taken by Studio Bliss Photography. Since photography is not allowed inside the Dana-Thomas House, this is a rare opportunity! Thank you State Historic Sites at Springfield, IL for this unique experience!

*PAUSE* * ONCE IN A LIFETIME* *FULL STOP* *DEEP BREATH* *HIGH PITCHED SQUEAL*

You aren’t allowed to take pictures inside the Dana-Thomas House, designed and built by renowned designer, artist and architect Frank Lloyd Wright, like EVER. Not on a tour. Not at an event. Like never, ever.

I grew up near Chicago, so I had the beautiful privilege of frequently taking field trips into the city. One of my first ones was a day at The Art Institute of Chicago, and I brought home a pencil, a button and a book of postcards of Wright’s work. Those postcards went with me more than a decade later to the first art room I ever taught in. And now I get to stand in this incredibly sacred piece of Art History supported by the Dana-Thomas House Foundation to take your photographs this Friday!

If you have never been to this site, taken a tour or visited their incredible gift shop, here is your chance to be just absolutely blown away by the beauty and care placed on one of our city’s best gems by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. And it is truly a one in a lifetime chance to be photographed in a space that has carefully preserved the largest collection of site-specific furniture and glass to date.

Sooooo, who’s coming to hang out with me this Friday from 5:30-7pm for Prom Photos, hosted by Downtown Springfield, Inc. and My Heart's Downtown Springfield, IL? I mean, how could you not, right?!? Get dressed up at one of your favorite downtown clothing shops, have your hair done, pick up your flowers, come get your photos taken, and then enjoy a night on the town at one of the restaurants before heading out to dance the night away.

Just in case you were curious, the guys have just now beat out the girls for spots on the 2027 Senior Team! But don’t you worry, there is still time to claim your spot for this year!

My favorite part about all of this is when I get to sit down at a Vision Consultation and hear, “I’m here only for my mom because I know she wants me to do this. I hate having my pictures taken.”

No you don’t. You just hate having your Life Touch school pictures taken. And, yes, you will rock this session. And yes, I’ll quietly take pride in watching you try to sneakily take pics of the big screen during the image reveal when you realize how awesome you look and feel about showing up in front of a professional camera. And then I get to watch you walk out with confidence, saying that showing up in front of the camera wasn’t all that bad…

So, what are you waiting for? Senior year starts here!
