Ancient wall art in a residence in Ghana estimated to be around 400-600 years old, depicting a local man and his collection of Ball Pythons in a rudimentary rack system made of sticks and mud. These “racks” closely mimic the natural habitat of these cryptic critters.
Ghanaian legend states that the ruling class would intentionally collect and breed these pythons (colloquially referred to as Royal Pythons) to amass vast riches by tricking the lower class into investing their life savings into building their own collection. The catch however was that once these enthusiastic new investors started producing their own baby snakes, the ruling class would arbitrarily decide that a new color variant was more desirable, plummeting their investment down to pennies. What a primitive culture these ancient people lived!
