Meet Bea.

This one took me longer than anything I’ve painted so far, and I’m very pleased with the result. She’s 16x16 acrylic on canvas, and almost every inch of it is feathers. Black and white, pattern on pattern, layered across the whole surface. I wanted to capture a lot of feather detail.

Tucked right in the middle of all that pattern is a little face. Soft yellow, wide eyed, just watching. I love the contrast between the feather pattern and how calm she looks in the middle of it.
