Remembering the peace that was created at last weekends retreat with STL Yoga Collective
As I drove off property I began to go down my checklist of to-dos. Sunday scaries building up. New year, new season, transitioning to a new rhythm. Oh and my birthday was Monday- no matter what else was going on, birthdays are always a time of reflection too.
Every year. Around this time. The energy shifts. School starts back up. Countdowns begin. Elections. Preparations for holidays. Family photos. Ooh yes it’s that time again.
And then the phone rings. The personal life news breaks. The intensity increases. To some it feels like drama. To others that’s just a part of being a member, of a family, a team, a community, a class room. Learning to navigate the changes even when it breaks you wide open.
The car ride home was spent intensely being pulled into the full spectrum of my humanness. The aches from grief and also from side splitting laughter.
What a gift, to work in this way. To photograph this retreat in this moment. To pause for a breath or two. To meet fellow seekers. To create something new. To fill my cup with work that aligns.
We played and shared and reconnected to ourselves. We practiced remembering to put down the control and surrender to what life has to offer right now, in this moment. It takes intention to slow down and let life sink in. It takes practice, again and again.
I’m so very grateful to everyone who was a part of STL Yoga Collective first retreat! If you missed it this time, join us and bring your full humanness next year. ✨🫶🏻
