This is from one of those mornings I’ll never forget. The perfect weather conditions created this low lying fog that sat on top of the river. That fog, at the perfect height, at the perfect time, made all the difference. The light was perfectly diffused and the warm sunlight crept through reflecting this magical soft orange light across the river.

I can’t tell you how many mornings I made the trip up, but when it all came together, all the pains of the effort seemed to melt away and was replaced with a major addiction.

I’m already counting down the days until the bald eagles make their annual trip back down south! 🦅

I finally got to experience and capture some bioluminescence, something that has been on my bucket list for a long time!

For this image, I used a super long exposure and low ISO for the foreground to keep noise at a minimum, but that left me with a sky full of star trails. To get that night sky with tack sharp stars and no noise, I then took 20 images in a row of the sky and stacked them together. Once I had my clean foreground and sky with no noise, I swapped out the sky with star trails for a sky that better represented what I actually saw.

Check out my stories to see how I put this together!

Stoked to shoot the full moon tonight but even more excited to be heading out soon to meet One Love Art Collective and Michael Simmons Photography for a week of exploring in Escalante!

There’s nothing better than adventuring out to a remote location that makes you feel like you entered another world!

A constant topic of discussion was how this place was formed. Since we didn’t have service to look up the answer, we had conversations like the old days where we could only speculate. None of us were right.

Expert geologists believe an earthquake triggered a giant sand-slide mass that slid into an oasis. The sand then twisted into these formations during the Jurassic time while the sand was still saturated before the sand turned into stone. And that’s your nerd lesson for the day 🤓

After my workshop in Death Valley with One Love Art Collective, we decided to stop by the Mojave Preserve for some desert magic on our way to the swamps of Texas!

This area is full of historical gold rush ghost towns to explore and these relics of the wild west are the perfect place to tell a story with light and imagination. I can't wait to get back here for my first night photography workshop of the year with One Love Art Collective and Michael Simmons Photography!

I love exploring new spots in old places! Sometimes when I am familiar with a location I revisit the same spots over and over again rather than exploring. I ended up liking this spot so much, I kicked my feet up and watched the stars come out after shooting my blue hour foreground.

Huge thanks to SoldierKnowsBest for letting me borrow his drone while I was in Mexico! I absolutely fell in love with drone photography and now immediately need one in my life.
