Your brand should reflect the quality of your work.

For Dazzle Home Staging, we used intentional cinematic choices—filming through doorways, using low angles to emphasize texture, and slowly revealing each space.

We also placed the owner’s interview inside the finished home, allowing the architecture, furniture, and décor to reinforce her message visually.

Behind-the-scenes moments showed the team planning layouts and moving furniture, giving potential clients a clear picture of both the process and the finished result.

The goal wasn’t just to make the spaces look beautiful.

It was to create a strategic story that reflected the care behind Dazzle’s work and built trust in the people behind it.

A strong video opening gives people a reason to keep watching.

Good Shepherd wanted to create a video that invited people to church. But before making that invitation, we had to begin with a more important question:

Why would someone want to come in the first place?

That question shaped the first 30 seconds of the film and helped us begin with something the viewer could immediately connect with.

Here is a look at the thinking behind the opening.

I spent most of June traveling across the country filming more than 20 interviews for Brinkmann Constructors.

Every location came with a different challenge. Sometimes I had a great space to work with. More often, I had a small conference room or a random corner of an office.

That’s part of the job.

My goal is always the same: take an ordinary room and transform it into a frame that naturally draws your attention to the speaker. By controlling the lighting, composition, and depth, the background becomes supportive instead of distracting.

You don’t always need the perfect location—you just need to know how to shape the one you’ve got.

30 seconds of kids flying down a Slip ’N Slide looks effortless on screen.

Capturing it isn’t. 😅

After years of filming kids for the National YMCA in and around pools, I’ve learned one thing fast: your window is short. Really short.

You’ve got excitement, distractions, tired kids, and on a 90° day outside with the sun in their eyes, the clock moves even faster before someone hits their limit.

The secret isn’t shooting more.

It’s showing up with a tight shot list and executing it fast.

Get in. Get the moments. Get out.

Because with kids, the best footage usually happens before they realize they’re being filmed. 🎥💦☀️

Behind the scenes with Tarlton and Waterout means stepping into an active construction zone with a camera bag full of lighting gear and more lenses than I’ll probably use —because you only get a few minutes with crews who have real work to do.

These teams can’t stop production for a photoshoot, and honestly, that’s what makes the work interesting.

The goal isn’t to stage perfection. It’s to capture reality.

In a world where AI can generate almost anything, authenticity has become one of the most valuable things a company can show. There’s no better way to tell your story than putting your people in front of the camera, in their real environment, doing the work they do every day.

Real teams. Real projects. Real moments.

Those are the images that end up winning trust long before they ever make it into a proposal. 📸🏗️

Same chords.

Different experience.

I used a guitar to show something every business should understand about video.

The message matters.

But how people experience the message can change everything.

Linxup had a clear desire: compete with the giants in GPS tracking software for fleets of trucks, while still holding onto the small-town customer service that makes them different.

They’re based in Chesterfield, MO, but their reach is national.

That was the story we needed to make visible.

For this project, the work went far beyond showing up with cameras. Linxup was an out-of-town client, so the value came from full client contact, complete schedule management, shoot logistics, location planning, crew coordination, and making sure every piece of the production pointed back to one clear message:

They may be a smaller company, but they belong in the same conversation as the big players.

The TV ad and brand photos needed to feel polished, confident, and national in scale — without losing the approachable, service-first personality that gives Linxup their edge.

That’s what strong brand storytelling can do.

It can help a company look as capable as they already are, sharpen how the market sees them, and give them the creative assets to compete bigger without pretending to be something they’re not.

When producing a video, there’s a balance between staging a moment and capturing something real.

Sometimes you have to create the space for something natural to happen. I call those staged candids.

That was the approach behind this piece I created for AVCC — American Veterans Care Connection 10 years ago.

The mission was to capture patriotism in its natural element across St. Louis: the traveling Vietnam War Memorial, Flags of Valor on Art Hill, kids running with sparklers, flags waving, families gathering, and the quiet reminders of what freedom costs.

Freedom to speak.
Freedom to believe.
Freedom to live the life we feel called to live.

But the heart of this video was also a reminder: the men and women who sacrificed for those freedoms deserve care, dignity, and support in return.

They took care of us.
Now it’s our turn to take care of them.

Honored to look back on this project as we head into the 4th of July. 🇺🇸

Behind the scenes with SIUE Dance.

This project started with a song, choreography, and a vision to turn a performance into something cinematic.

We built the video around movement, energy, and perspective — using everything from overhead drone shots to Dutch angles and multi-camera coverage to bring the piece to life.

What I loved most about this project was how collaborative it felt. The dancers brought the performance. We brought the camera language. Together, it became something that was not only beautiful to watch, but a strong reminder of what happens when choreography and filmmaking move together.

Grateful to have helped create this one.

A lot of video projects start with the obvious question: “Who should be on camera?”

But the better question is usually much more strategic.

Because the people speaking are only one part of what makes a message land.

If you want a video to inspire action, you have to think beyond what is said and start planning what the audience needs to feel.

That work starts long before the camera rolls.

🎥 Watch this before planning your next interview-driven video.
