There are some seniors who walk into a photo session with a clear vision of who they are and the little things that will add up to tell their story - and Essynse Smyth was exactly that kind of senior. 🤍
She's beginning her final year at Central Montcalm H.S. now, but I first met Essynse earlier this summer and I was immediately charmed by her gentle, ladylike manners. In so many of her photos I tried my best to capture her feminine (even often ethereal) yet confident spirit.
As a fellow lover of classic literature, writing, nature and the beauty of all things elegant, she was a girl after my own heart when she showed up with her books and tea sets. She dreams of one day owning her own bookstore and I can already picture the cozy business she'll create for people to enjoy.
Every detail of this session felt intentional to help showcase who she is now from her flute to her bible, everything was just right.
I loved getting to know Essynse and I look forward to her fall session. I know the autumn photos will be every bit as lovely as she is. 🍂🤗

Anna was soft spoken when we first started her senior session, but I have a feeling there is a BIG personality just beneath the surface. (See her playful sunglasses for proof) 🌟I could tell she's a thoughtful and passionate young woman because she's already thinking about her future and considering studying sociology. She dreams of becoming a prison advocate and working to make big changes in politics one day.
She also knew exactly what she wanted for her senior portraits, carefully choosing outfits that felt like her and making sure to incorporate her favorite color, orange. 🧡
It was so nice getting to capture this season of Anna's life, and I can' t wait to see where her strong sense of compassion for others takes her. Congrats!

Tyler will be a senior at Pewamo-Westphalia High School and is looking ahead to trade school after graduation, but we spent about half of his session highlighting his passion for baseball. ⚾
I don't get the chance to explore downtown Portland often, but it was refreshing to wonder through the brick streets and along the beautiful river.
Tyler may be on the quieter side when you aim a camera at him, but he was kind and obliging. He was willing to try different poses and to trust the process. We quickly discovered that the best way to get a genuine smile out of him was with some good-natured teasing. The relaxed smiles were gems. Congratulations on your senior year, Tyler!

Between sports, NHS, Student Council, the Hope Squad, and everything else that keeps her calendar full, Kloey has built a high school career centered around showing up, working hard, and investing in the people around her. She may seem quiet at first, but she likes to be involved.
We featured her love of basketball along side her colorful collection of shoes 👟 but some of my favorite images from her session were the details that help tell her story of living with Type 1 diabetes. She chose to include a few photos of her insulin patch, not because it defines who she is, but because it's part of her strength.
Kloey, thanks for trusting me to capture your senior portraits. You did a beautiful job! 🎓✨

Breyden's senior session took us out to his family farm, a place that must have been one of his many playgrounds growing up. 🚜We had wide open fields, tractor tires and towering silos. It felt like the perfect backdrop for a young man who is ready for the next adventure. (Yes...he climbed up a silo without a second thought. But since he's considering becoming a lineman after graduation, I suppose it's good practice and the heights didn't seem to bother him anyway).
Breyden brought so much positive energy and a good attitude to his session. He was curious about my camera, asked thoughtful questions along the way, and made the enter evening fun. We also made sure to include his love for hunting. My goal was to give him a gallery that truly reflected who he is - easy going, adventurous, and genuinely kind.
Congrats to you Breyden, on your upcoming graduation. Thank you for choosing me to capture your smile and highlight who you are now.

To my wonderful clients,

I know I owe several of you finished galleries, and I promise I haven't forgotten about any of you.

Tomorrow, however, I'm officially signing off for one week to spend uninterrupted time with my two little girls in a place with no wifi connection. We're headed to the beach to make the kind of memories that only happen while they're still little.

I absolutely love being your photographer, but being a mom is my favorite job. Thank you for your patience. I'll be back soon, refreshed and ready to dive back into editing. Until then, I hope you're making beautiful memories with the people you love most. 🥰🕶️🌊

Andrea "Annie" Rolston wanted only two things in her senior photos: sunshine and flowers. 🌸🌞I'm happy to say her portraits came together with golden light and beautiful blooms which were well matched to a radiant smile like hers. Annie is not only stunning on the outside, but she also has a heart full of faith, kindness, and love for the people that surround her. She has a passion for the ocean and travel which have inspired her to pursue a future in marine biology after high school. (Which is perfect because she seriously looks like a mermaid with that stunning hair!) 🌊🧜‍♀️I can't wait to see where that journey takes her.

I have had the incredible privilege of photographing Ellie since she was a small girl in pig tails. Now, she's grown into a remarkable young woman (with much longer, glorious hair). She has a gentle and caring heart and deeply loves her family and friends, and if you know her, you know her furry kitties hold a very special place in her heart too. 🐈🤎
We had a refreshing evening, kicking off our shoes and stepping into the cool water of the creek behind her home. I enjoyed the bright summer colors she chose to wear that made her stand out in the midst of the muted green woods.
This is only the beginning of Ellie's senior year story. In a few months, we'll meet again for her second session in Ionia, where we'll visit places that hold precious memories of her late father. I'm honored to help tell that part of her story as well.

Congrats Ellie, on entering your final year of high school.

Some senior sessions focus on big, bold moments. Tera's was about finding the quiet beauty in nature and simply being herself.

She wanted a session that felt natural - a chance to wander overgrown hiking trails, enjoy the outdoors, and let her personality shine through. As someone who loves creating and always enjoys having something to do with her hands, she brought a thoughtful, peaceful energy to her portraits.

This was my first time exploring Wittenbach Wege Center, and thankfully Tera and her mom knew the trails well enough to keep us from getting lost. We enjoyed our little adventure, finding beautiful pockets of light around each corner.

Congratulations to Tera on her upcoming senior year at Lowell High School. :)

For the first part of Conner's senior session, we focused on the sports that keep him moving year-round. 🏀🎽🏃🏼 Conner throws himself into three different sports and we were able to feature them all. It's been a long time since I've photographed the long jump, and Conner graciously humored me as I asked him to make several jumps so that I could capture just the right images. Thankfully, he was patient, kind, and always willing to keep smiling.

This was only chapter one of his senior story - we'll be meeting again this summer to showcase another side of who he is: his passion for CREATIVE WRITING! I cannot wait to share those images. :)
