One of my favorite animal facts is that giraffes have fewer neck bones than penguins. But I’ve told you that before so here is a new giraffe fact. A giraffe’s spots are much like human fingerprints. No two individual giraffes have exactly the same pattern.

For over 30 years, Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge has rescued over 500 animals from private owners, roadside zoos, and situations of abuse and neglect. To rescue is just the beginning. The TCWR was formed due to a former Dallas zoo Employee who was given them as payment for a debt. After realizing they couldn't take care of the cub they gave it to the Jackson family who then started the sanctuary after ten years a woman showed up on their doorstep with three cattle trailers full of 42 lions, tigers, and cougars. Over the last thirty years they have brought multiple animals from many infamous places including from the tiger kings park. The TCWR is a nonprofit. No contact refuge. They don't ask the animals do do anything other than just exist.
Fun fact about tigers i learned here they are orange due to their prey having protanopia where they see orange as green.
You can also stay up close to the tigers at their Safari Suites Starting at $200 per night The Siberian Suite has a view of a Liger habitat from inside of the room!!

The Crescent Hotel was originally built in 1886 as a Luxury retreat. For the wealthy drawn to Eureka Springs for the springs “healing qualities”
In 1902 the hotel was leased to The Frisco railroad to help during the slow season in the winter. It was reopened as the Crescent Collage that provided education for women until 1934.
Then the devil came to town and bought the hotel in 1937. Norman G. Baker was a charismatic businessman who said he possessed the cure to cancer. With his charisma he amassed considerable wealth from desperate people looking for a cure. Once the patients started dying of their illnesses he would sneak the bodies out of the hospital in the night and ship their bodies back home. Eventually they put him in prison for mail fraud due to his claim that he could cure cancer in 6 months. Funny enough after opening multiple hospitals falsely claiming to have the cure to cancer. Norman G Baker died of Liver cancer.
The hotel now stands as a monument of the past. The hotel host ghost tours. They also have a spa and a rooftop restaurant.
