“but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 NIV

I’ve come to learn the deeper I dive into my walk with the Lord; that there truly is no greater act of faith than rest itself. There is no better remedy than the peace, healing and love we receive when we sit at the feet of Jesus. His Word is the anchor.

In Luke 10:42, Jesus affirms that Mary chose the better thing. He wasn’t dismissing Martha’s desire to serve, but rather encouraging her to see that slowing down to rest in Him and listen to His Word is ultimately what matters most.

What use is it to serve others non stop and in the midst of it all loose the true heart of the gospel?

“‘The LORD is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:24 esv

My heart is in awe every time I get the opportunity to photograph others. Perspective truly changes how we get to experience the world. In Genesis 1:27 it says,

“So God created man in His own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female He created them.”

We are God’s handiwork. Comparison no longer sits in the lens by which I see life. The world may tell you to be like this or that, to look like him or her, but God says, you and I were created in His image.

To me, that means there is a level of divine perfection in all of God’s creations. I don’t believe there are coincidences in the Kingdom of God, in Him there truly is no lack. Love your neighbor as yourself goes beyond acts of kindness. It layers down into the depth of our being. Where we get to ask the question? Do I love me how God loves me? Do I see me, how He sees me?

When the answer becomes yes, then we truly step into the unconditional love Jesus spoke of; because we’re no longer trying to fill a void but living, responding and loving out of the truth of being fully loved and fully seen.

You are God’s handiwork.

Hope in the Lord.

Waiting oftentimes feels difficult and hard, this design was inspired by Hope. To have hope in the midst of lack of clarity or direction; a deeper knowing and trust that those who wait will be rewarded for the service they provide as they wait. Ultimately a perspective shift from what it is that we are waiting for, to the question… what am I doing while I wait? The focus becomes less about the end result and more about the “becoming”

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 esv

May the Lord renew your strength today.

This month I had to do a last minute improvisation for the creative/small biz highlight. So I turned on the camera and decided to do for myself what I’ve been doing for others.

On my journey I’ve come to learn the importance of sometimes taking a step back and loving on myself before continuing forward. We can easily get wrapped up in wanting to serve others that we loose ourselves in the midst of it all. Jesus narrowed down the commandments to two major ones, Love the Lord your God and love people.

“And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:39 esv

💭 What happens when we don’t love ourselves? This to me sounds like the blueprint of loving others; It starts with you. My journey of transformation started the moment I took a good look in the mirror and decided to become the change I wanted to see 🦋

It became less about flaws I saw in others and more about how can I begin to take the next steps towards healing, that will form me into the kind of woman that will see the good in everyone.

The same grace we give to others, we are called to give to ourselves. Be kind with your heart, it deserves tenderness, love and to be held properly.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 esv

My prayer with Buttee Creative is that you see my heart in everything I do because my love for God and people is the fuel behind this engine.
