Arctic Blast and Heavy Snowfall reporting for the East this weekend has us thinking of the Lupine blooms in June here in New Hampshire.

In New Hampshire the Lupine capital of the state is Sugar Hill in the Western White Mountains.

They are apart of the Legumes family and a special bacteria apart of their roots converts nitrogen in the atmosphere into a usable form to enrich the soil for other plants.

With their vibrant bloom, bees, butterflies and hummingbird love Lupines for pollination.

Don’t forget to smell the flowers this spring but enjoy where you’re at right now.

Not all education happens inside the classroom.

Christmas is just over a month away and 2026 is nearing shortly - excited for what this year will bring for Humans of the Mountains.

Back to the desert in Spring 2026 with students and we are looking forward to Fall 2026 high school orientation trips as we roll out our program offerings for the 26’-27’ school year.

Shop small and support your local businesses this holiday season and we will see you in the mountains!

“My kids ask me if I would have done anything different; I tell them that my only regret in life is that I listened to the things other people told me I should do. So if I can offer you any advice, it’s to keep following what you want to do and not what anyone else tells you.”

-David of Cape Forchu, NS.

An impromptu trip to Nova Scotia washed us up on the south shores of Yarmouth. Some of the prettiest coasts I’ve ever seen along the Atlantic up north. We boarded a ferry in our van in Bar Harbor, ME with minutes to spare.

The morning after, we woke up to coffee on a secluded beach cove; we were pulled towards this eye catching coastal art installation. It was as vibrant and welcoming as the people of Nova Scotia. We pulled in and began photographing it, in no time this nice gentleman rolls up and introduces himself as David.

David is a retired law enforcement officer born and raised in Yarmouth that now works on and sells old fishing vessels. He lives in Yarmouth and owns the on Cape Forchu.

After we get to know each other, we tell him about ourselves, our recent marriage this past fall and newest endeavor of being on the road full time. He offers us a wedding present; a buoy ornament and a piece of advice. He handed us his business card, told us if his kids were traveling far from home he would want to know someone was looking out for them and sent us on our way.

That advice really calibrated our internal compass; something that he had no idea we really needed in that moment.

One foot in front of the other. 🌲

But don’t forget to look around every once in awhile and see how far you have come.

The man, the myth, the legend; of Southern Vermont is one of the definitions of Humans of the Mountains.

Zak is a jazz musician with a funky flare. He is able to appeal to any demographic and plays for all ages from children up to traveling to senior living homes to perform. Graduating from , he has been a huge part of the arts community of Vermont and is a staple in the school systems as a music educator and mentor to budding jazz musicians in the greater Rutland area.

Zak’s raw honesty and unapologetic persona are what make him the great teacher and person he is. He can be found hanging on his small homestead nestled in the hills outside of Rutland or if the sun is shining and the winds are out he is always up for sailing on his local lake.

If you see Zak playing the sax, sailing around the lake or out in town give him a shout, you might just get to go sailing.⛵️

Last snowy shots for the season - winter is just around the corner though. ⛄️ 🤷

Here is a series of Uncle Miller riding from the Shasta weather portal into the beautiful Northern California sunshine.

These photos were taken on the same descent about 1,000 feet apart.

Heres to incoming summer in the Northeast from my last taste of winter in the Northwest. ☀️
