2022 was a bit of a whirlwind!! Here's a brief look at the year in photos, which consisted of 3 weddings where I had known at least 1 of the couple for over 8 years (one of which I knew them both before they got together over a decade ago), one of my oldest friends having her first child, my first trip to Red Rocks and getting to shoot Midland, my first time in Montana (Glacier Natl Park and the Bison Range were amazing), first trip to Oregon, a cross country drive (got some fun desert sunset photos), quite a few corporate branding shoots, and lots of creative shoots at the studio! Not only did I get to shoot with Midland at Red Rocks, I got to meetup with them in Ft Worth for a couple of nights at Billy Bob's (the world's largest h***y tonk), Tulsa, and the middle of nowhere OR this year. Along the way I was fortunate to photograph my new friends Jonathan Terrell and Hailey Whitters (who Rolling Stone named the top country album of 2022) many times. I got to photograph Lainey Wilson, Cole Swindell, Chris Young and Tyler Hubbard while out there as well. I did some second shooting with my friend Kristin Cheatwood and got to have a blast capturing creative angles at some beautiful weddings, including in front of a dinosaur. Cute babies, great families, beautiful weddings, rock stars, breathtaking scenery, creative models, great companies, etc all keep it exciting and fun for me to be able to create great photos.

I hope you enjoy this condensed look back at 2022 and I look forward to an amazing 2023, hopefully you get a chance to be in front of my lens!

It had been over a year since we did engagement photos, so I was glad to see this wedding come together so perfectly! Here's a few sneak peeks at a couple of my favorites so far. Way too many beautiful details to picture here, but each plate included a hand written letter from the couple. As you can see, the reception wasn't any fun at all.

Add love, a great couple, fun friends and a loving family and you can host a wedding anywhere. Including a super fun dueling piano bar!! I had never shot a wedding at one before, but thanks to Steven and Ally, I had the chance to come up to Asheville and photograph their big day and have fun with them celebrating in a very unique venue! I got home from my trip to Nashville for Michelle DiCianni and Bobby Dirienzo beautiful East Ivy Mansion wedding and went to backup my photos. I couldn't resist giving them a little sneak peek at all the fun from their amazing day!! It isn't too often you get to totally submerse yourself into the wedding party for 2.5 days. I got to witness firsthand how much love these two crazy kids are surrounded by with all of their friends and family.

Had way too much fun with Bobby and Michelle shooting their engagement photos at a cool speakeasy bar called Five, around downtown Chattanooga and at the carousel in the park. These two made it super easy, but Danny the Pit is the real MVP in his bowtie!

Regardless of political leanings, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. there is one thing we can all easily do to help the people around us: let's erase the use of the "R" word from our insult vocabulary. It is so easy, and all we have to do is replace it with any other insult you want. Try it. I guarantee you can train yourself.

When we use People First language, we put the person in front of any disability. I promise they don't let whatever disability we may see in them define who they are, so neither should we. There is nothing wrong with being different, and they have plenty of abilities to make up for it. In this example, it would be a person with retardation when describing the medical condition.

I challenge you to catch yourself using the "R" word inappropriately and resolve to erase it. I ask you that when you catch yourself, you make a $5 donation to the Ability Experience to help remind you, bring awareness to people with disabilities and to contribute to a great cause. If I catch you, and I have seen plenty of you using it in your political posts lately, I will call you out, ask you to donate and I will match your donation.

A lot of you know I'm into cycling. I wasn't always, and in fact I didn't pick it up because I cared about a bike. I started it in order to participate in a cross country cycling trip Pi Kappa Phi's national philanthropy (formerly Push America, now the Ability Experience) put on annually to raise awareness and funds for people with disabilities. It changed the entire course of my life. I don't expect this will change your lives to that extent, but I do think it will improve the lives of people who overcome their disabilities but still have to face the way other people view them.

Through my photography, I get to make a lot of people feel great about themselves. Here is your chance to do the same. It is super easy.

I'm counting on all my friends, Pi Kapp brothers and especially my fellow Pi Alphas to help lead the fight to erase the "R" word and the negative connotation associated with it. Please share as you see fit.

Here's a little sneak peek at James and Jennifer's beautiful wedding. I try to turn all clients from strangers to friends, but it is especially nice when you show up and have known the groom for several years and already have that rapport going and can easily slide into the groove. Jennifer was equally as easy to work with as James, and I loved all the ecclectic styling she chose for their big day. From the dress, to the venue, to the Mac the Cheese food truck, etc. Quite the perfect day for these two, their fun kids and the friends and family that were there to celebrate. Congrats!!
