First off...If you use any of these images, please give credit to me, Tashina Azure. Also, if you have the names and Nation/tribe to any of the dancers, please reach out to let me know so that I can give them credit and the nation you represent as well. If you are the person in the photograph and don't want it displayed, please let me know. I will happily remove your photograph.

Secondly, it was such a great time up north at the Little Shell Antelope Society NYE Powwow! My favorite shots are the ones where people are truly enjoying themselves; those can't be faked. ☺ I also really love all the beautiful dancing. 😍 I want to say thank you to everyone who looked directly at me through my lens - even if it's unintentional! 🙃

Also, I got some beautiful pictures of Grace Hermanyhorses, such an inspiring dancer; she has definitely got the moves! I remember seeing her for the first time at the Pine Ridge powwow in 2003, and I became an instant fan. I was blown away by her dancing. My photographs captured her perfectly. I'm probably biased tho! 😜

Of course, my niece Keya and nephew Elias are so amazing! I am so proud of the young woman and man they have become, and it was so nice to visit with them and hear what they are up to. 😍

Greetings Friends & Family!

Update on the Volume 1- Coming Home: Photographs of the Meskwaki Cattail & Bullrush Revitalization Project.

I’m in the final layout process for the book, so I will be reaching out to those of you who have had your photographs taken, asking you to verify your name and tribal nation. I want to ensure that your information is accurate. I will also ask if you want to add your Indian/meskwaki name and clan. I will be reaching out by email, text, or Facebook messages, so keep a lookout for that. This will be happening within the next few weeks, so I can stay on track with the printing deadline of the Annual Powwow (Second week of August).

***Update***
After speaking with people who have concerns about the book, I will not be launching a Kickstarter campaign or doing a fundraiser to get the book printed. I will just be making copies for anyone who has reached out. I plan to sell them at cost, so if you haven't already filled out the form, please do so soon. I'll be closing the form on July 31. The plan is to send it to the printer on August 1st, so they are here for the Powwow. Again, I will not be printing extras, as I’m having them printed at cost. My goal isn’t to make money. It’s just to showcase these beautiful photos to the community where they rightfully belong. ❤️

Today's Senior Graduate Shoutout Wall of Fame is...

Adair Class of 2025 from South Tama High School 😍

First off, he totally rocked this photoshoot! He is a fun-loving, easy-going, talented young man! After this shoot, I am so excited to take the second one. He is going to bust out his instruments! He plays many and hopes to become a producer; that is so dope! For future plans, he is looking into two universities that will help him with his passion: UNI and a school in Florida; his dream school is UNI, and he would like to stay close to home. He said his mom wanted him close by! OMG, my heart, that is the sweetest; he clearly is a family man through and through! Adair, you're almost done a little over 30 days, and you will be graduating! I know your mom is so very proud! Thank you, Garika. I had a ton of fun, and your son is so sweet!

Today's Senior Shoutout Wall of Fame is...

Leland Shoot #2 Basketball 😍

His Favorite Memory:
The places basketball has taken him to play and see. His favorite game was against Denver last year. He made 8 threes and scored 29 points on the night. 😃

Today’s Senior Class of 2025 Spotlight is this easy-going, cheerful, talented, creative, and handsome young man Leland out of East Marshall High School!

First, this young man will go down in my photography history book of the first senior to struggle with a serious face!🤩I had to work extra hard to get him to be serious this was definitely a first for me! Right out of the gate, I was this big weirdo and I asked him are you familiar with my work? He said no and basically told me he was here for his mom! I always love to hear that from my young men seniors it just shows how much love and admiration they have for their mom...I even captured a small moment with him and Mom together being goofy and getting ready.🥹 One of Leland's highlights is he is a Basketball player. For his future endeavors, he is thinking about Sports Journalism and Photography! Woo hoo! 🥳, I am excited to see his photography career take off! His mom wants him to go to Haskell but he is thinking University of Iowa he is still unsure and has a little bit of time to decide.

1st Location: This photoshoot was taken at the beautiful Ledges State Park in Boone, Iowa!

I am so very proud of Leland he is such a big sweetheart and has a kind heart! Congratulations Leland!!! I am super excited for our next two photoshoots and more highlights to come! 🤩🎓✨🌟💫

Today’s Senior Class of 2025 Spotlight is the brilliant, talented, creative, and beautiful Wokiksuya out of Vermillion High School!

She inspires her little cousins who watch her dance Jingle at Powwow's near and far. Currently, she is on the Yearbook Committee but really enjoys her time with friends! Future Plans: attend Haskell Indian Nations University! ✨

More about the photoshoot...
She wanted to have a Sunrise Photoshoot at Haskell. So we were back at the Medicine Wheel and it was so beautiful and calm you could feel all the good medicine. The Sun was coming over the beautiful trees and field and baby girl was just cold but living her best life. She had two outfits that really fit her personality her Ribbon Skirt was created and designed by her talented Mom Deidre.

I am so very proud and in awe of this young lady! She is truly one of a kind and has the biggest heart! 😇 I am very excited about your next journey to see you Yam and Tibby all at the Same University you will all have a blast!! Keep on creating and dancing! Congratulations Babygirl auntie loves you always!!!! 🤩🎓✨🌟💫
