I often photograph families as they welcome a brand new family member - but those new babies don't typically lick me so much. I love that mom wanted a mini session to document the kids new best friend Penny, she's such a sweet girl and is already listening so well to commands! Mom wanted a few updated classic 'look at Stefanie and smile' photos in our mini session, I wanted to play with Penny, so we did both. Take a peek at some of our favorite images. 🐾

Biggest tip for a great photoshoot: allow yourselves to HAVE FUN! If you know this crew you'll know that it didn't take much for them to let loose and crack each other (and me) up. In fact my challenge was getting them to take anything seriously, and then holding my camera still while I was laughing. They're the perfect example that if you want it to look like we had fun you need to actually let go and have fun! It was a perfect session and a perfect way to celebrate Nate. xoxo

Event season is BACK and I'm hit with the most popular question - when should we schedule hair and makeup?! Just a reminder your artists know how to make hair and makeup last for HOURS. So please schedule them earlier than you think you need - it will last! If you tell them you need to be finished at 2, because you need to leave for the photos at 2:15, you will be late and photos will be late, and you will be stressed. Always allot for extra travel time, time for hair and makeup to run late, for traffic, time to turn around when you forget your speeches, time to grab that second pair of shoes. Trust me on this one.

SOPHIA TURNS ONE! This little doll is so sweet, and this session is a great example when I say not everyone smashes, or even likes, the cake. She was only interested in taking tiny pokes at the cake but we pivoted and she sure loved showing us how well she stands on her own! Happy happy sweet girl!

My very first session with this family was in Central Park and 7 (or 8?!) sessions and locations later we decided to pick a different city spot. This was a late bar mitzvah session - it was frigid and rainy the day of J's bar mitzvah - and we wanted to capture some time together at the end of the summer before their oldest goes off to college. When I take time to think about how grateful I am for this job its because it has brought people like this into my life. Mom and hit it off when we first met all those years ago and I love the fact that she holds a spot on my dear friend list, not just my client list. Love you guys!

Take a peek at the wall displays I've ordered this week. While a fun session is step one, getting them printed is always my ideal goal - your photos cannot bring you joy if they never leave your downloads folder.

When we wrap babies at the start of our mini sessions we’re able to accomplish a variety of looks while babe sleeps blissfully unaware of the ridiculousness going on around them.
