🦃 Caught this wild‑tom strutting in Cades Cove (Great Smoky Mountains) this past April… feathers fanned, head colors shifting, doing his full courtship display. Did you know…?
Eastern wild turkeys of the Smokies are known for their powerful gobbles and longest “beards” of any wild‑turkey subspecies, and believe it or not, they can burst‑fly up to 55–60 mph, even though they mostly stay on the ground. 🐦💨
**THANK-fully, they’re protected, wild, and free in the ! Grateful for the park in my backyard, and grateful for all you who love experiencing it all with me. 🙏
