This was my first time working with a ballet dancer, and I wanted to try something a bit more editorial to match the classic elegance of her dancing. We waited out the heat to catch the cool evening air and sunset at Shain Park, using a mix of the natural twilight sky and a softbox to really highlight her poses against the fountain before moving toward the backdrop of the iconic Birmingham Theater.

I couldn’t have asked for a better subject for my first dance shoot; she made it look easy and it we all had a lot of fun. At all three locations we had people stop to comment on her and what we were doing too. We even had a professional ballet teacher pause to show her an advanced pose for one of the photos and encourage her!

Even though we were only able to go two innings before a spring thunderstorm ended the game the action between Troy Athens and Troy High Varsity Softball was ☄🔥!

The algorithm tells me that today is National Family Day. I can't come up with all of the words to express what Rachel and our kids mean to me... "Thank you" just doesn't seem like enough. This year our family went through one of the biggest transitions and without the support from my incredible wife and the three biggest blessings (our kids) a man could ever ask for, I can tell you that I wouldn't have made it. But here we are, THRIVING. Life can be hard, but God is good. He is always always good.
