Lets talk about ✨lifestyle newborn sessions✨ What's so special about them, anyway?
Hi, I'm Haven, an experienced newborn photographer located in Bryan/College Station, TX. Photographing babies is my joy and honor... and anyone who knows me knows that I love to talk about it! So let's get right into it!
These sessions take place in the comfort of your home and capture the love and connection of your family. Your session can be as posed or as candid as you'd like, but typically my sessions are a combination of both gentle poses and candid moments. Here are some common questions I get about lifestyle sessions!
•• Do I need to clean my house?
Nope! 🙂 We'll chat about which part of the house we want to shoot in. Typically, this is the master bedroom and sometimes the nursery. You'll want to tidy up these areas, but don't fret too much! Stuff the clutter in the drawers, make sure you have a light colored comforter on the bed, fluff the pillows, and call it good! No need to worry about sweeping, vacuuming, or tidying the entire house.
•• What do I wear/what will my hubby/kids/baby wear?
My suggestion for all my sessions is this: keep it simple. Neutrals, tans, whites, creams, and pastels are all good options. Stick to solids, or if you go for a pattern, keep it light and make sure that no more than two people in the family are wearing a pattern. Keep it comfy too! Want to wear a sweater and leggings? I'm all for it! For baby, our best bet is to have them swaddled up all nice and cozy! I have an abundance of swaddles that I'm always happy to bring along.
•• When will we do the session?
Lifestyle sessions can take place anytime, but the optimal window for newborns is between one and four weeks. We'll schedule the session during daytime hours, usually in the morning.
•• How long will my session take?
Your session will last approximately an hour to an hour and a half, depending on if there are big siblings, if baby needs to eat, if pets are involved, etc. Speaking of which... YES! I'm always happy to include your pets in your session. 🙂
•• How should I prepare for my session?
Things to do before your session are: Pull out any special items you want to incorporate, get yourself and older siblings dressed, and last but not least, feed baby 20-30 minutes before I arrive. My number one suggestion if you have big kids is to have an extra person come over about an hour before your session time. Grandma, an aunt, a babysitter, or anyone that can wrangle your older kids while you get ready will be super helpful!
