my daughter has been drawing nightmare fuel lately 😵‍💫 but looking at her little 4 year old brain cranking out anime horror art has been the joy of my life. A joy that other mothers have been deprived of under the Trump administration’s terrorist campaign against our immigrant neighbors.

If you ask me, borders are made up lines anyway, but this isn’t about borders or protecting people. It’s about testing boundaries, seeing how far we’ll let them go, and just plain old white supremacy.

And I know a lot of us have been feeling hopeless, but my God won’t allow me to walk in that. So here are some orgs and people that are doing good work for people that have been violently othered, and I hope you’ll support them too:

At some point, someone told you to be quiet, get out of the way, and get smaller.

In this moment, I’m telling you to speak up, take up space, and get in the way. There’s too much joy to be had, too much love to be given, and too many people rooting for you for you to be off to the side like you don’t matter in this world. Somebody once told you you’re not good enough, but God made you for good works, so get up!!

You know what’s amazing? You can get up and start over at any moment. You can decide right now to be different. And you may have to do it over and over again for it to stick, but you still get to do it. These photos of remind me of that. She’s so beautiful and her story embodies that beauty of deciding to be different than you were before.

And that’s what I love about my photoshoots. Sometimes a scheduled and paid appointment is what you need to make you get up and do the thing lol but more than that, it’s a safe place to experiment and play and choose who you’ll be without the pressure of everyone’s expectations weighing on you 💖

I know I haven’t posted in quite a while, but I really struggled with the tension of promoting my own business and genocide happening right before our eyes. But I saw a post by that reminded me that every effort counts, and I want to add my drop to the bucket.

As a mom, i think so much about parents watching their children die in Gaza. I’m mourning for the babies being starved to death by not just a heartless military, but by the cold hearted legislators funding it in the name of a right to “self defense.”

My baby girl asks me for snacks before bedtime every night, but parents in Gaza are holding their children trying to console their withering bodies. It’s not right, and I’m calling on my legislators , , and to make it right. Call for an end to this genocide, demand aid be flooded in, and denounce all funding of this violence.

Lord, please tear down oppressors and rescue the vulnerable. Keep our hearts soft and open with compassion and a fire to act in justice.
