Bench Project Update ✨️🌿
The bench is coming along and getting these two sides worked on this week! More details on the magnolias, snowdrops and snowbells 💚 and move a few of the snowbells so they gang down more (this perspective can be tricky).

A painting created for the Serialized Novel, Jacob's Mother by Laura Ellis.

Laura asked me if I'd be interested in illustrating a page for her Novel. And after reading the first chapter, I knew this would be a painting I would enjoy and so happy about the collaboration!

So she sent me the chapter I'd be illustrating for and it's called Safety, taken place in old Gaelic Ireland.

About Jacob's Mother

Jacob’s Mother is work of literary fantasy that explores the thin border between madness and memory. The novel bends time and genre by following three women through separate timelines, revealing that we are all connected.

This book is about maidens, mothers and crones, spanning three timelines. It is about myth, including what is inherited and what is hidden. It is about the ways women are shaped by what they give away and what they withhold. It is about the magic of women.

Im very excited to share that my design submission for bench project has been selected! Yesterday my husband and I picked up the bench from Michigan City and today I was able to get it primed and the base color painted! I can't wait to share more of the process as I go!
The theme is Brincka Cross Gardens ~The Hidden Gem~ the painting will feature spring flowers like snowdrops, hellebores, magnolias, daffodils and more!
The Brincka Cross home will be featured as well as a chickadee and bunny!
A cool little "look and find" four leaf clovers hidden among the bench too🍀

Michigan City, is turning 190 years old so the The Michigan City Public Art Committee is launching “Heritage & Legacy: 190 Years, 19 Stories”

19 artist-designing 19 benches to the Uptown Arts District. Each one will reflect MC's history, culture, and future.

So what is The Magic of Flowers book about? ✨️🌷

The Magic of Flowers is an illustrated guide, with a few personal stories, folklore, symbolism and diy practices with flowers, like how to create a fresh flower bouquet 💐

While it's not an identification guide or a how-to- care for particular flowers, there are lots of visual, calming and present moment practices with flowers🌷

It's perfect for people who love art and nature. It's also perfect for those who like to practice being in the present moment ✨️

Book Cover Reveal ✨️ 🌷💜
I wanted to also share just a few things I have learned through the process of creating a book. This book is indeed a project, one of which is full of my own experiences with flowers and learned through various books and extensive research! I'm no botanist, florist or farmer, but I am indeed very in love with flowers, which I imagine many people are.🌹

All the projects in my book were experienced- A few collaborations, but I made sure to try each project out myself before adding them to the book!
Projects like Moon Tea and a Flower Lantern 🌼

Each piece of art was created with the book in mind. And I'm really happy with how it's coming together! The Journey took a little different turn last week and I'm fully designing my book with the mentorship from my designer. Sometimes I think I'm insane or something lol... but really I think I have a vision that is indeed difficult to share with another person (in design terms) and I work in a way that I kinda learn as I go! I put this flower here, that one over there and then it just feels right. I know moonflowers vine and hellebores bloom in early Spring. So adding in additional characters (birds butterflies etc) I made sure for it to make sense, the best possible!🌸
I hope you love the cover design, it's a mock up made out of a composition notebook lol.
