The Refuge in Summer is quiet..no loud bird calls .. no large flocks of geese or ducks. Most of the canals are dried up. There are a variety of small birds swallows, red winged blackbirds and sparrows.
I am looking forward to the fall migration

its been awhile. since I have been to the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge . I went today and enjoyed myself, below is a picture of a young Pied Billed Grebe. I was surprised how crowded it was for an overcast mid week day.

On July 3,2023 my wife of 54 years passed away. She was the better half of Team Hymas. I’m not sure what I’ll do without her. She was an artistic photographer with a flair for finding beauty in the most mundane settings. Shirleen could constructively criticize my work in ways that didn’t hurt my feelings, and when she loved one of my shots I was so proud.
I miss her so. Duane Hymas
