One of my favorite techniques to use is freelensing. This method entails removing the lens from the camera and shifting the focus plane in various unconventional directions, similar to a tilt-shift effect.

Partial blur or shallow depth of field really invokes my love for impressionistic art. Being able to achieve a sense of surrealism and allowing myself to fully surrender to the creative process.
