Wow...it's been a hot minute, or three years since I apparently posted to this page. I guess you could say I don't do much marketing on Facebook these days. 😁 But I'm popping in to share some peeks into a maternity session I photographed recently. I haven't been shooting as much outdoor portrait work in the past few years as I've been specializing in studio bo***ir sessions. But I've missed it, so I'm dipping my toe back into the outdoors. Turn up the music on this Reel so the timing makes the most sense. How lucky I am to have such amazing clients! 😘

So, so excited to share these images from a shoot I did with Calie Garrett back in December. She wanted images that conveyed the depth, heart and soul of her new EP. This EP is a departure for Calie from contemporary Christian music. It's a very personal narrative - she wrote all the music and lyrics - and anyone who has been through the transition of a marriage at an end, and the crossroads of rediscovery and rebuilding will appreciate her honest, and at times, haunting words.

This shoot was a challenge thanks to sketchy, unpredictable Virginia Beach weather. I knew I wanted to shoot in a location in southern Virginia Beach, but I wasn't sure I could beat an incoming cold front and the rain it was bringing with it. As I was taking the last few shots, a great big gust of wind blew through the stand of trees, bringing with it the first drops of rain and a temperature drop of 10 degrees. We embraced the wind and the photos of the wind blowing her hair up are some of our favorites of that day. I love wild imperfection of those images.

CONGRATULATIONS on a gorgeous EP Calie!!! So grateful for the opportunity to work with you and watch you bloom through the last couple of years!

Congratulations to this talented Kellam High School Senior - she was just cast as Cinderella in their upcoming spring musical. We can't wait to see you do your thing, Lizzy!

Lizzy is a multi-talented (and we DO mean that!) girl who is co-leader of the Knightingales, an incredible acapella group, she was co-captain of the cheer team this fall AND she just finished a role in Virginia Musical Theatre's production of Seussical. Not to mention, she's a star student and a really lovely person inside and out.

We photographed her session at Hermitage Museum and Gardens - which is the #1 spot my seniors request and you can definitely see why. So many unique locations and textures all in one spot.

I'm so happy for you Lizzy and can't wait to see you in Cinderella!

It's a Sneak Peek!!

From the moment I read Alex's client info form, I knew he was cool. Not just because he plays baseball and drives a fire engine red Jeep. Not even because he plays guitar and plans on applying to some highly competitive colleges. I knew he was cool because under favorite musicians, in amongst an eclectic variety of musicians, he listed Father John Misty. Y'all, I freaking love Father John Misty and had just seen him in concert a couple of weeks ago!

So, in summary, Alex is a super smart guy who has all that going for him, plus, let's not overlook that head of hair! (We need a "hair blowing in the wind" emoji.) He also has a pretty good sense of humor.

Alex, I hope I succeeded in portraying you as "interdimensional" as you requested via your client info form. I'm still not sure I know what it means. 😜
