Well this was a first for me! Predation!

Baby Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Crotalus atrox, venomous, dining on a Mediterranean House Gecko. McLennan County, TX.

Snake was safely relocated. As for the gecko, let’s just say you don’t have to worry about saving 15% on your car insurance.

Got a call on this little guy late last night. I’ve encountered a couple Cottonmouths over the years but this was my first time trying to photograph them. No, it didn’t chase after me. Safely relocated.

Had a shutterbug friend who asked about getting some pics of the next spicy noodle I got. Chris Charanza Photography got some great shots and asked lots of great questions wanting to learn more about how to coexist with our slithery neighbors. This guy was only about 10” long. Same 🐍. It’s baby season!

Best tip I got from others that like to shoot pics of wildlife is to try to get down on eye level with the wildlife. Which I guess is good advice for shooting people pics too lol.
