This drone pilot has some skills!

I didn't take a drone up for photos of fireworks for several reasons. However, several others in Oneonta did. Let me go through the list aviation violations seen in the below image. The drone is the green dot to the left of the fireworks.

1) flying over people (I saw this drone earlier, it is the same model I have. It is too heavy to legally fly over people, plus it didn't have propeller guards as is required for flying over people).
2) The FAA discourages flying near fireworks as the percussive waves act as turbulence and can down a drone. Also firework debris is a danger.
3) Improper lighting. All drones flying at night must have a light that is visible for 3 miles. Also without proper permits and/or license extensions night flights are not allowed.
4) Not a violation, but it isn't courteous. Many people were distracted by the drones and not paying attention to the fire works.

Many people associate drones with an invasion of privacy (trust me we don't spend thousands of dollars on drones to spy on you). I am a huge proponent of personal liberty and think this court decision is a huge win for privacy.
