Open Air Meriwether is an annual Plein Air Event sponsored by Arts Meriwether, a community arts association, Big Red Oak Plantation, a hunting preserve in Gay, and Artisans on the Square, a fine art gallery in Greenville. Meriwether County is a rural west central Georgia community covering 500 square miles, with a population of 22,000 in 7 incorporated cities, with endless opportunities for painting landscapes, waterscapes and historic structures.
Proceeds from the event are placed with Meriwether Educational and Community Improvement Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) corporation established by Meriwether County Chamber of Commerce, to establish an ongoing and sustainable program to promote arts education in Meriwether. You are invited to support this mission by purchasing art created during Open Air Meriwether and/or with a donation to the fund.
