Look at ALL these beautiful faces all searching for their forever homes! It’s national rescue dog day! Please consider adopting a rescued dog from your local shelters or rescue groups if you’re looking to add a furry family member! 🐶🧡🐶🧡

Today is National Dog Rescue Day 🐾

Animal shelters across the country are facing an ongoing capacity crisis. Every day, more animals are entering shelters than leaving them, and many organizations are stretched beyond their limits trying to keep up.

One of the most important ways you can help is by spaying and neutering your pets. Preventing unwanted litters helps reduce shelter overcrowding and gives more animals a chance to find loving homes.

If you’ve been considering adoption, fostering, or supporting your local shelter — now is the time. ❤️

To all my fellow p**p scoopers, belly scratchers, paw washers, dog nurses, k9 nutritionists, bed sharers and ENDLESS picture takers of your fur babies — Happy National Dog Mom’s Day to you!
And to me - We are dog moms! 🐶

We’re on our way to SoCal/SanDiego for our winter dose of sunshine! (I know …I know… it’s raining harder in California than in Oregon right now!) ????? 😅

Pet photo sessions are already prebooked but I’ve likely got a couple openings if you can meet on Mondays and Tuesdays (12th/13th or 19th/20th). Otherwise, next San Diego sessions won’t be until mid March when I return.

Excited to see my SoCal peeps & pups! 😎🐶📸🌅

From our “No Bad Days” photographing puppies session for Driftwood Leonbergers!

It was so fun to watch these little balls of floof experience the beach for the first time time ever! They played, they explored, they sniffed everything, they dug in the sand, and then they all fell asleep! 😴 😅🥰

Happy almost 4th of July holiday weekend! We're just catching up from a couple weeks ago -- still immersed in the EMERGE pet photography challenges with Unleashed Education and trying to keep up with the every-two-weeks deadline!

The last challenge was called "Highs and Lows," with the brief calling for photographs containing a high-key look (a bright-and-airy feel) to low-key (a darker, moody feel). I photographed Mochi on a low-tide day at my local beach, and the light was glistening and glowing from the reflections in the sand. I knew it would make a great high-key image.

Below are the Top-Ten selections for this challenge, and I'm thrilled to say Mochi's image made the cut! I don't ever shoot to make top ten -- with my insane court reporting and travel schedule, my goal is to meet the deadlines, learn from the critiques, and most of all ...have FUN doing it! Plus it keeps my camera kit from collecting cobwebs and I get to be out with my favorite things in life -- photographing dogs! We have a great group of photographers in this year's Emerge, and I am always excited to see what others are out there creating!

If you're looking to improve your pet photography skills or even if you're a pro and want to challenge yourself for something creative and fun, you can sign up and become a member on their website. In the meantime, enjoy the Highs and Lows Top-Ten for Emerge 2025!

I promise I'll try to be better about sharing more in the next few months as I work through these challenges! 😅

Happy Spring .. and Happy ALMOST Friday!

Just dropping in to share that I'll be at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival this Friday, April 4th, to photograph pups in the petals! If you're in the area and would like to meet me there, shoot me a message. I'll be hanging out in my van in between sessions and will have some down time throughout the day until sunset.

From there I'm heading to San Diego for more photo sessions and to celebrate a special birthday for my bestie. My San Diego schedule is quite full, but if you're wanting to meet up for a photo shoot, let me know ASAP -- I have a couple/few afternoons that might work.

If you miss the tulips tomorrow, I'll be shooting there the last week of April when I return from San Diego. Reach out if you'd like to reserve a pet photo session!

Looking forward to seeing you all!

Update: Adopted! 🥰🥰🥰

Meet Adoptable Ruby! When I learned about her last week, my mind went into shock — HOW is this dog not in a home? Something terrible must’ve happened to her family, right? Then I learned that she was abandoned by her family at a local dog boarding kennel. It gets worse — she’s been there since JANUARY! JAN-U-ARRRRRY!!!

Then my mind swirled into thoughts of what it must feel like to be abandoned, waiting for your family to return, watching all the other dogs coming and going as their families eagerly swoop them up to take them home after being away for a few days.

Was she a bad dog? Did she do something so awful that no one wants to make her their own? She’s a big dog — maybe her food bill became too much? Maybe she doesn’t get along with other dogs? Maybe she killed a chicken? What could it be?

What I learned … it was none of the above. She was just left … and never reclaimed.

The fabulous staff members of the kennels have been taking Ruby home on weekends to get her away from kennel life, and I’m told she does well with the other dogs in the home, doesn’t counter surf, is polite, potty trained, calm and well behaved and just wants to be loved and around people.

I had the honor of spending a couple hours with Ruby adventuring through Fort Stevens, and she was an absolute dream! She met strangers, children, off-leash dogs and a couple seagulls - she was perfect! We had her on a 30-ft lead (removed in post production editing). That last photo, it was if she knew her fun day was coming to an end and it was time to take her back to the kennel.

This dog was meant for adventure in the outdoors. This dog was meant to give and receive love in large quantities. This dog needs a home. Will that be with you?

Please share Ruby’s story far and wide — let’s get her a home to call her own!

For more info and to adopt Ruby, please contact and/or in Warrenton, Oregon. ✨
