** SMITHSONIAN CASTLE **

Serving as the administrative offices and information center for the organization, the Smithsonian Castle is located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. It was completed in 1855 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965. It was opened temporarily this past summer in honor of America’s 250th birthday and the last day to visit it is today. The main Smithsonian visitor center is also located here, with interactive displays and maps. Computers electronically answer most common questions. A crypt just inside the north entrance houses the tomb of James Smithson.
Renovations to the Smithsonian Castle began back in 2023 and it will be completed in 2028. However, for America 250, they decided to open up the castle to host a small exhibit of American artifacts from their library over the summer. It was a great exhibit to experience. It was also nice to see the progress of the renovation of the castle and I can’t wait to see when it is finished in 2028.

** 5 THINGS TO DO WHILE IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA **

As one of the keystone cities of the American south, Atlanta, Georgia has grown into one of the biggest tourist destinations for America. Labor Day weekend is probably when the city is at its fullest with events like DragonCon, College Football Kickoff, and Black Pride attracting visitors from all over the world to the capital of the Peach state. Here are 5 things that you can see or do while you are in Atlanta.
1. World of Coke
2. Georgia Aquarium
3. Centennial Olympic Park
4. Zoo Atlanta
5. Martin Luther King Historic National Park
