Memorial Day is about remembering and honoring all of those whose service to our country cost them their lives. We remember them because sacrifice is part of what it means to live in a society. We remember them because they chose the greater us over the lesser me.

This year, this Memorial Day we need to remember that the greater us requires sacrifice by all of us.

Limits can be good.

God knows at this time of quarantine, social isolation, and shut. it. all. down we have nothing but limits on our lives at the moment. However, I have spent almost all of the past month with my son with few extended periods of time just for myself. I haven't picked up my cameras since that first weekend when I took a phenomenal series of portraits (if I do say so myself) until this afternoon. My in-laws took my son biking and I had an hour to myself with my cameras.
One hour to simply stop and look at what was around me and to explore my surroundings. I hope to make this a frequent occurrence. The subjects dependent upon, well everything.
