Experimenting is so key to growth.

I’m getting the itch to do medium format portrait work again. The experience of using a medium format camera and the way it renders images to be is a different type of look.

Maybe it comes back to my love of people, but getting to really highlight those details that make them “them” with a bigger canvas excites me.

Between shooting Kodak film, like this shot here, or picking up something from FUJIFILM X/GFX USA specifically for medium format work, the idea of a different look makes me want to shoot more.

Love making portraits at Bethesda Row.

Had a wonderful time with Brittany H a few weeks ago using the architecture and natural lighting to create.

The first shot was underneath a shaded stairwell that had let light in through streaks. The other was a nice white wall that worked well for studio lighting.

Which one is your favorite?

God brought me to 37. Job’s not finished, just getting started. I’m learning to be more of myself, trust my instincts more. Practicing gratitude a lot. So many people have said this is my year. I can’t wait to see what unfolds. Cheers 🥂

If you’re not suffering for your art is it worth it?! I’m sneezing my way through the Kenwood Cherry Blossoms to get some shots on Kodak Gold.

Can’t wait to see how these turn out. 🤧 🎞️

One time for Jeff and Magic City Books.

The second time they had The Rachel Maddow Show / Rachel come through for a book tour, MCB invited me back to document another sold out event.

I caught this shot of Jeff and Rachel mid conversation behind the stage, the glow of the lights and the audience in the background attentively listening to their discussion.

I’ll be 37 in 6 days.

Today’s office is my childhood bedroom.

Why? Because homeownership comes with unforeseen challenges. Just part of the game and you make good trying to mix work and life.

I’m working out of the same room I built CreeseWorks in, with a camera my late father got me and the unwavering love of my late mother.

My life blew up at 32 and 34 with each of their passings, and I’m three years into rebuilding my life after losing two people who were truly my first best friends.

What had made this period easier is coming home and being reminded of what has brought me joy:

- ’s (I keep this Tyson Hesse print from 2)

- The first celebrity shoot I did on a Hollywood soundstage a year after my dad got me that camera

- A painting by dear friend made during my mother’s passing

- A photo of at a concert we went to together thanks to the kindness of a stranger at

Though the life I have now is far different than the life I expected by now, I still can appreciate the journey and be grateful for the experiences I’ve been fortunate to have in my career.

Here’s to those rebuilding as well.

Cherry Blossom season at the Tidal Basin is one of my favorite times of the year in Washington DC.

The ephemeral nature of the blossoms - here for a moment, then gone - makes it so that to be witness to them for the brief moment their in bloom is special.

Something I’ve tried to do since moving back home is making sure I take in the things I was away from for seven years. The solace of the blossoms, even with the crowds, are one of those things.

Over 10 years of photographing professionals. 1 consistent compliment.

They feel safe.

Had the best time over the weekend creating portraits of on .

This was the first time doing a shoot on The Row. I wasn’t sure where I could do something not overdone.

We ended up to a few spots I scouted out that would stand out. Brittany’s warm smile was so easy to photograph.

The resulting photos tapped into that warmth as well as the lighting with a bit of help from my lights.

I can’t wait to do this again soon.
