My long-time friend from CNN, Jim Acosta, hosted his first live town hall at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington D.C., creating a space for direct conversation between representatives, advocates, federal workers, and the public.

The event marked a transition from studio reporting to live public dialogue, inviting questions, exchange, and accountability. Swain Domain documented moments behind the scenes throughout the night, capturing the powerful moments that brought it all together.

Shortly after National Guard troops were deployed in Washington, D.C., uniformed personnel took positions in highly trafficked public spaces as residents and commuters moved through their daily routines.

These images document that moment — a visible military presence set against familiar civic backdrops, including Eastern Market Metro Station and Union Station.

Visual journalists from across the country gathered in D.C. this weekend for the 2026 White House News Photographers Association Eyes of History® Contest judging.

Each year, members of the WHNPA review thousands of entries documenting the most significant news moments of the past year — from breaking news and political coverage to features, portraits, and multimedia storytelling. Swain Domain plays a big part in coordinating the student competition, recognizing and uplifting the next generation of visual journalists.

Thank you to Jules Joyce Baquie for being a huge help assisting with logistics throughout the weekend.

Community members gathered inside PS 103 — the historic school attended by Thurgood Marshall from 1914–1921 — for a day of art and learning.

Reopened in 2024 as the Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center and home to the Alexander Williams, Jr. Center for Education, the building now serves as a community, education, and legal hub. Hosted by GBMC - Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Stephen B Thomas, the event included access to health resources, creative workshops and the sculpting of a bust honoring Marshall’s legacy.
