Just a friendly tip from your photographer friend! 📸
Because sometimes the most unpredictable moments end up being the most priceless, and let’s face it, not everyone has a professional camera within reach when they happen. Your iPhone is actually a pretty impressive camera, so you might as well make sure you’re getting everything out of it!
Here are a few settings worth changing:
📸 Get the highest resolution
Go to Settings → Camera → Formats and turn on Apple ProRAW or HEIF Max if your iPhone supports it. This gives you much more detail to work with instead of automatically shooting smaller, more compressed files.
🔍 Turn on Lens Correction
Go to Settings → Camera → Lens Correction and switch it on. This helps correct some of the stretching and distortion you can get with the ultra-wide lens, especially around the edges of your photos.
🔋 Turn off “View Outside the Frame”
Under Settings → Camera, turn off View Outside the Frame. Unless you actually use this feature, there’s really no need for your phone to constantly preview what’s happening beyond the shot you’re composing.
🎨 Lock your White Balance
If you shoot video, turn on Lock White Balance under Settings → Camera → Record Video. This helps keep the color and warmth of your video consistent instead of shifting while you’re recording.
📐 Turn on your Grid
Go to Settings → Camera → Grid and turn it on. Those little lines make it much easier to keep horizons straight, compose your photos intentionally, and use the rule of thirds.
Your phone will never completely replace a professional camera and a photographer who knows how to use one 😉, but the best camera for those unexpected, once-in-a-lifetime moments is the one you actually have with you.
