Cozied up in my house as a bomb cyclone 🌀 hits outside and reflecting back on one seriously gorgeous fall. It was filled with sunshine, amazing skies, and so many sweet moments with your beautiful families. As I juggled evening sessions with my senior son’s mountan bike race weekends and my middle and highschool daughters’ volleyball games, I certainly dropped the ball in sharing here. But that’s what winter’s for, right? Hibernating, slowing down, catching up, and catching our breath. Here’s to embracing the rest that winter brings us (and yes this is me trying to convince myself that I’m excited for it 🤪)!

Two options for Holiday minis this year - and they’re both officially open for booking to all!

Tree Farm and Holiday in Meg’s Studio minis will be held in Washougal November 2nd, 3rd, and 9th.

This tree farm has been a favorite of mine for the past NINE years…this year marks my 10th. It’s near and dear to my heart at this point. So many of you have been with me from that first year, when your kids were all so tiny 🥹 and I’ve been lucky enough to watch them grow up in front of my lens. If only I possessed the words to communicate just how much that warms my heart…💞

For the last two years, I’ve hosted Holiday minis in my Washougal studio. It was a tight space but we made it work and I’m so thankful for that start into having my own indoor space. This year I am just absolutely thrilled to have a space with triple the amount of shooting space and triple the amount of gorgeous natural light. When I first saw this space - my wheels instantly started turning with all the ways I could capture families in it. And now that day is here! The size of the space allows me to create a few different shooting areas - if you scroll to the last slide you’ll see the mock up I made of my vision for one side (what do you think of the new studio couch? 😍). I have visions for the other spaces of course but haven’t put them to paper yet, but just think creams, greens, hints of gold, cozy knits and a bit of twinkle too!

Last session as a family of three. Those bittersweet final days with just one babe tucked under your arm and pulling at your dress. Before your heart expands to fill with more love than you knew humanly possible..AGAIN. I just CANNOT wait for another sweet baby girl to join this crew. 💕

And onto my happy - oh there’s lots of it to report and that makes me so grateful. This summer has been so gorgeous and filled with lots of family time, sunshine, and relaxing days before the craziness of fall comes at us swinging. My mom is here visiting us for 10 whole days and that’s just the BEST. Also..there’s a big milestone birthday coming at me fast. In just two days I’ll be forty you guys. Honestly I’m kind of excited about it. A fresh decade laid out before me. Ready to make it a great one!

Oh heyyy Facebook friends 👋🏼 Has it been over a month since I posted here? Yes, yes it seems it has. Have I been shooting copious amounts of love, light and laughter filled images that make my heart burst but neglected to share them with you? Yes.. that’s a yes again. And did I try to shove 9,000 of them into one post? Yep. Yeppers. This gallery. Oh my…literally want to share every single one of them. This family and the laid back, sweet and playful energy they bring 😍 I am here for it! Can you imagine having photos like this from when you were a newborn? I’m so grateful for all the ways in which newborn photography has evolved over the years. What a treasure for all of these babies in the world…that they get to grow up with this window into their first days on earth. ☀️

One gorgeous evening spent frolicking amongst the wildflowers capturing their love for each other and her love of dance. 🩰🌻 It was pure magic and I have about a gazillion other photos to prove it because I just couldn’t stop clicking that shutter. It was all too beautiful!

And since this is a happiness loop, I get to share what else made me happy this week (aside from all the grinning like an idiot at my screen as I edit all of these gorgeous wildflower sessions)! Last week I got to spend a few days at the coast with a group of women who are also photographers and the whole experience was just so great! We laughed so much, talked shop, ate great food, and had so much fun photographing families on the beach (posts of those coming soon 😍). It’s a beautiful thing when women support other women and I’m just so grateful for a group who truly values community over competition!

I had the most beautiful last week filled with these blooms, gorgeous clients, and the most perfect weather possible. 🌻🪻

As if all of that wasn’t amazing enough, my husband and kids drove out to meet me at this location Friday night after my session in hopes of catching the aurora borealis. Little did we know that in the next few hours we’d be making core memories that would last a lifetime. 🥹 It was an absolutely unforgettable experience - frolicking together underneath the dancing lights together and hearing my three teens in absolute awe. And as if that wasn’t all enough to make this past week my most favorite in quite a while, we were blessed with gorgeous weather all weekend long that allowed for a few hours at the beach and an entire day of backyard hangs which was all I wanted for Mother’s Day.

Oh and did I mention, after 9 years spent dreaming about it…we finally brought home a boat 🚤 😍.

So yep! It was a great week!

The most adorable little guy filled the studio with so many smiles and giggles to celebrate his first birthday. You know when you’ve smiled too much and your face just hurts? Yeah, he did that to me. 🥰

When his mama asked if their dog Sugar could come to the studio, I practically screamed yes! She was the first good girl to be in the new studio space and she was the sweetest addition to this first birthday session.

If you could give new parents just one piece of advice, what would it be?

Mine? Take a breath and be in the moment. Whatever that moment is. Good, bad, mundane, joyful, sleep deprived, overwhelmed. Take a breath, and soak it in. Because a new moment, new emotion, new challenge or triumph awaits just around the corner. You’ll never get this one back.
